Progress? Progress!
« on: August 24, 2007, 04:29:37 PM »
Against all odds, I find myself working on Chapter 2 again, and in the last 2 days I've managed to debug a large part of the war system. Scripts are starting to kick in that have never been activated before. Parties are being managed from spawn to battle, and it is good.

Today for the very first time the AI sieged, stormed and took over a town on its own. The town actually switched factions. I'm so happy I could cry!

Congratulations. The chapter 2 stuff always sounded really good, but I was beginning to wonder if I would ever get to see it.

Hehe, I bet M&B's next version will have some AI improvements that make all this siege mission template modding useless.
Good to hear from Storymod, it has always been a lot of fun for me.

Mission template modding? Do you think I've been doing something as simple as mission templates? No, my friend. Not even close.

More like coding an entirely new map AI system unlike anything that's been done before. Basically I'm layering loads of extra options and orders onto the basic M&B map AI, and you'll be able to direct parties from your side with pin-point accuracy.

You're right, though, I'll most probably leave the mission templates until the new version is out. Right now I'm just kicking the map into shape. That's what I was talking about -- the AI is now capable of actually conquering the opposing side on its own, without input from the player.

Whoa, long time no see, good buddy! Glad to have you back.

Also, you should drop me a message on MSN, I'd like to try and talk you into maybe helping out with Storymod a bit. ;)  Others are helping too!

I can maybe contribute some concept art or splash screens but not much technical work I'm afraid... busy of late.

Anything you can do is very much appreciated. We need everything, from scripts to models to 2d art.
