 :)

Thanks for the Great mod and fast up date

My question is how come Revendell mount Archer can not use bow on the house?

Is it a limitation on Revendell?

or just a bug?

Lothloren do not have this problem.

My question is rather simple and may have already been asked, but I'll ask here. In my current Isengard let's play, several of my viewers want to see me use trolls. So, this leads up to my question.

1.) Where do I get them? I was told Dol Goldur and Isengard.

2.) Is there a troop tree that leads to them? Or do I need to increase my rank and then I'll be able to hire them?

One last question too.

What are some viable tactics for me to use against Elven forces? I always take extensive losses against them and I'm trying to minimize that. I'm not recruiting any archers (with the exception of some uruk archers) due to their minimal damage against the Elven armor, so it's been Uruk-Hai and wags primarily now in my army composition.
Thanks in advance.

Hey,
I play just TLD for few in game weeks and i have a question about ruined towns - will they be rebuild or are they completely lost? If the second option, do you have a plan to add an option like "restricted equipment", for people that love sandbox, to rebuild it (auto depending on faction's strength/auto in few weeks/additional quest like clearing enemies that stay in the ruins and than escorting people from capital)?

I haven't played against the elves but... as them, I find my archers can't hit the wargs if they're moving at at angle to the archers. Perhaps zig-zagging (with having wargs follow you) would work?

I actually just finished watching the Uruk archers inflict heavy losses on my party of Dunedain and elves. :) The wargs are brutal, too. A flood of warg riders joined in one wave of the battle, and though the goblins were taken out swiftly, the wargs took out half my men just running around.  They're so insanely mobile that they turn sharply at pretty high speeds -- the cavalry have trouble running them down, and the archers end up wasting their arrows trying to take out wargs when they should be shooting at the income horde of Uruk-Hai... who then chopped my men to pieces (making that quest to round up 7 elite Rivendell troops a serious pain  in the ass). The infantry don't have much better luck against them, either.

Even with damage settings on half, my troops get chewed up by the Uruk. Other orcs don't have nearly the same effect. The warg riders are absolutely lethal to anything that's not mounted, but aren't very effective against mounted troops. My party of mostly infantry and archers, however, get absolutely destroyed by 'em. Even with elite troops and damage on half, I need superior numbers or the warg riders will just chew 'em up, even if I take out several of the riders and wargs myself.

@Xatham, Northcott

Thanks guys for the suggestions, I'm going to attempt this next when I go fight the Elves.

I do have some more questions now.

Will I retain my wargs post-battle if the riders die? Or will I have to keep recruiting more snaga to replenish the numbers? Or if the warg lives, will there just be a new rider so I retain the unit?
Nothing clever and handy like that atm, I think you just lose them. We might try to change that.

Also what about some tactics against the Rohirrim? I usually lose 10-20 in a battle if we're nearly evenly matched, just due to their amount of riders. I have issues with those elite skirmishers the most. My poor orcs just get turned into a pin cussion by those arrows. A warg format against them doesn't do very well, so I was wondering if uruk-hai pikemen would be my only chance. I would also need uruk-hai archers to take out their skirmishers, since they can just ride around and take out my men.

Also I was informed that Mordor doesn't have trolls, so only Dol Guldur and Moria have them. Was this a balance choice? I would think that Mordor would have trolls, but maybe I'm incorrect about that.

As a side note, I am winning most of my battles. But I'm not able to do so without a lot of losses.

Have a companion with pumped Surgery? One kinda has to accept casualties as the norm when playing orcs, but this might help.

I hate being so lengthy, but I do have one final question here, haha.

Is there a mod to put up a kill counter? I know in some mods, I've seen a little tally at the upper right corner where it keeps track of how many enemies you kill during the battle. Some of my viewers want to see my casualty reports, but during the big battles it's to distracting. Not to mention it causes a little bit of lag and blocks my line of sight when in the midst of combat.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate the responses.

Edit: Thanks Merlkir!

A funny (albeit slightly buggy and exploitable) tactic against infantry heavy armies is to have an army of warg riders and have them dismount at the beginning of battle then remount, activating the wargs. Then have the cavalry charge. The wargs are more dangerous without the riders, and the riders will fight on foot better than they fight from the wargs.

I actually wanted to know about this too. I was wondering if that was possible. Now if you remount the riders on the wargs, then wouldn't they be on the wargs when they charge? Or just dismount once and you can charge? That was the only confusing part to me.

The dismount order spawns invisible riders. If you leave the dismount order running the invisible riders will try to dismount, which triggers the kill code as if they lost their mount. But if you give order to remount right after they all get off the invisible riders will take over.

Like I said, funny but buggy.
nice one. not sure we can do anything though... dismount is hardcoded and we can't override it in case of invisible riders. In case of first dismount to free up the wargs, it's fully intended

I like how players do not have a choice of when their team will conduct siege assaults,  I also like how the decision to do them would be based on the faction strengths in relation to the opponents.

But my question is this-  I have tried to observe how things progress on their own, and I see very little impact on how the ai chooses to count what I do.  The only thing I ever notice would be a direct interception of forces before they take or destroy a town/outpost.

I have tried to raise an ally's strength by recruiting forces and giving them to the ally directly.  I have given to patrols, towns, caravans, Generals.  And never seen an increase in the other side for faction strength.

So if I do not have an impact then the only option I have is to constantly follow around and wait  and babysit my side and hope they choose to attack.

Will there be some way in the future to have a more direct impact either by giving troops,  spending influence,  or even some way to know their goal this time is to wander aimless , or attack a town and burn it to the ground so I can prepare to maintain him if needed to prevent him from retreating.

I have some problems with the mod: in battles the game stop and crashes and, some times, when i try to save the game it stop and crashes too... I have tryed low the graphics but it still with the same problem. I dont think my computer is the problem, he is capable enough to run this mod: AMD Phenon II X6 1100T, 8G of memory, 1T of HD and Sapphire Radeon HD6870.

The wargs are more dangerous without the riders...

Sweet God, are they ever! Leading a bunch of Rohirrim, the Uruk cut out their horses from under many of my riders, but I managed to trample/stab orcs until most of the riders got free. So now I've got infantry and archers on a hilltop, I've ganked the orcs, and there's just a couple goblins riding wolves to worry about. I thought I'd get through the battle without significant casualties for once. Nope! Kill a gobbo, damned armoured warg runs amok and mauls everyone not on a horse. :P

One thing I've been having trouble with... When a faction's down to one city and is Spent And Wavering, how exactly do you push them down to a point where your boss will swing by and beseige their last place? The Dunlendings were taken care of as soon as they were S+W, but even though I'm camped outside of Isengard and killing everything that pops out, they recover far faster than I can drag them down.

I have a question about the 'eliminate' kind of missions.
I received orders to destory 5 'Mordor Raiders' unit.
I have done it so far, with 5 unit counts.

But my question is, I have killed way more units than that- I engaged a tons of them at once with Imrahil- who is on some kind of mission.

How does the 'count' works? Do they count the other units that join a large battle, and is 'Morgul Raiders' counted as well?

Nameless One

You have to engage the unit directly. If you join a battle in which the unit is already engaged, it doesn't count. I think it should, but it doesn't.
