v2.4.1: Not Ready for Prime Time?
« on: June 08, 2010, 08:55:01 AM »
I recently started up a game of TLD in 2.4, noticed a bug (can't recruit Ulfas), looked it up here, and saw "fixed in 2.4.1".

So I found and downloaded 2.4.1, but now whenever I go to the armor or weapon shop I get errors about missing mesh files for certain objects.  If I ignore the errors it just leaves the item slots black and the game continues.

Should those errors not be happening, or are they known issues for 2.4.1?

In principle they should not be happening, they are known bugs, but as we're focusing on developing the current version, noone's gone and fixed them.

Ok, thanks for the info.  I've been playing 2.4 and it's sooo good.  I can't wait to play the new version when it comes out!

If you need any help writing prose I can pitch in.  I can also proofread.

Um, if the official 2.4.1 mod isn't the ideal solution to the old Gondorian-recruiting-Ulfas bug, does someone still remember which .txt file to change in order to fix it, and how (like changing what lines to what)? I believe I read about it somewhere a couple of years back, but when I picked up playing TLD again recently I could no longer find it.

Yeah, when I play Gondor I always miss having Faceman around.  All that riding skill so early in the game, Faceman is rockin'.
But Lieutenant Lottery is a sure thing for Gondor.  Ranking up as a Rohan officer takes forever.

It has actually been years since I last played TLD. Now the time has come to speak with the old man again and wield the sword once more to cut my way through the great hosts of Mordor... Ahh... These were magical times for me.

The highest version released is 2.4

Whatever bugfixes AW planned later turned to a straight port to the newest version, then a proper new version.

The only way now to get 2.4.1 is to make it ourselves.

The Ulfas bugfix: http://mbx.streetofeyes.com/index.php/topic,109.msg36280.html#msg36280

New Map: http://mbx.streetofeyes.com/index.php/topic,812.msg15671.html#msg15671
Or: http://mbx.streetofeyes.com/index.php/topic,812.msg18815.html#msg18815

Version 2.4.1 was never officially released, but you could still download it. DaBlade posted a link to it a while ago:http://rs48.rapidshare.com/files/155699815/The_Last_Days_2.4.1.zip

Quote from: DaBlade
From the readme file:

Quote
2.4.1 -bugfix update   (new game required)

--graphics reorg and texture load reduction as prep for a .9xx port.
--new models and textures by Brutus, Dablade, Triglav, Merlkir, Mtarini, Octoburn, AW
--new shaders and regional map names by Mtarini and updated map by mtarini and GetAssista
--new voices from Balduran and Pagan
--a few bug fixes

I guess AW forgot to update the download thread. It should be working fine (mine is).

Does anyone around still know if the unofficial 2.4.1 includes the Ulfas fix and the ''New Map'' from the first quote?

Is 2.4.1 compatible with the RCM for 2.4?

And, what gives me the creeps: DaBlade - Guest? Has he left the boards? This can not be good.

I wish the TLD-Team all the best and hope real life treats everybody kind.

EDIT:

OK, it seems to be like this:

v2.4:
- Low-Res Orc Pack 1.0 (http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=515)
- No More Trees 1.2a (http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=922) & Burnt Trees Addon (http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=777)
- RCM
- I updated the map with the files from the Map Beautifing Thread. These are sadly not the most recent ones, as the map in 2.4.1 looks better.

v2.4.1:
- Low-Res Orc Pack 1.0
- No More Trees & Burnt Trees Addon actually do work, though the world map trees are messed up, so not really compatible but would still help increasing Framerate in battles.
- RCM not compatible
- the map looks awesome (-:
- includes bugfixes, some new voices, some new models
