Some Mount Help
« on: January 17, 2007, 06:00:56 pm »
Hi, I've been having some problems with my modules folder, and I was wondering if someone could help me.  :-[

When I installed the game it didn't create a modules folder under the default install under my program files. When I added one and created a mod myself, the game would't read it, and it didn't show up under the drop down list in the main screen. Yes, I did copy the Native files under the new mod, by searching the system and then copying the folders into the new mod folder. Unless someone knows how to make the game read my modules folder, this is what I ask:

If someone could get the 20 new horses meshes, from this link:

http://www.mbrepository.com/modules/PDdownloads/viewcat.php?cid=9

(it should be in the middle of the page filed as New Horses 20)

and add them to the Native Mod (of course under a different file), and then make it installable, because my Mount and Blade modules folder doesn't seem to be working.

That would be the best thing in the world, and should only take someone about 10 minutes.

Please help me!  :'(

I happen to have the code handy, actually. If I wasn't in exams, I'd have it for you immediately - as it is it'll take a day or two.

I thought all the horses need to be re-rigged for v0.8? Has this been done for those horses?

EDIT: I'm a total moron, those are retextures and so don't need re-rigging. You're good to go.

Good! I'm glad he doesn't have to do any extra work for me, than he already has been so kind in doing. :D

What does need doing, however, is that I have to copy the native files and rename them instead of creating new ones, or the horses get shafted. I'm on it - it's something I'm doing for my own mod, so it'll be a simple matter to do it for you.

Done, it's up on the Repository.

Right. This defaults to installing over your Native folder; however, you can change the path during installation. Assuming you have no other modifications made to your Native folder, it will just slot in. If you have altered Native already, you can install this to a different folder and copy the relevant lines out of item_kinds1.txt.

These are:

If you have modded Native already, replace the horses entry in Native (that's the following)
Code: [Select]
itm_sumpter_horse sumpter_horse sumpter_horse 1  sumpter_horse 0  65537 0 34 22808832 0.000000 90 0 2 0 1 0 8 7 0 0 5 0

 itm_steppe_horse steppe_horse steppe_horse 1  steppe_horse 0  65537 0 112 22808832 0.000000 80 0 5 0 2 0 11 8 0 0 9 0

 itm_courser courser courser 1  courser 0  65537 0 223 22808832 0.000000 70 0 6 0 2 0 10 11 0 0 11 0

 itm_hunter hunter hunter 1  hunting_horse 0  65537 0 334 22808832 0.000000 60 0 11 0 3 0 9 9 0 0 18 0

 itm_warhorse warhorse warhorse 1  war_horse 0  65537 0 724 22808832 0.000000 50 0 25 0 4 0 9 8 0 0 25 0

 itm_charger charger charger 1  charger 0  65537 0 1411 22808832 0.000000 40 0 36 0 4 0 9 8 0 0 30 0

Replace these (in Native item_kinds1.txt) with the top code, and copy over the contents of the horse mod Textures and Resource folders into your Native ones.
Then in module.ini (Native), change scan_module_textures to 1, and set load_resource = textures, materials and horse_meshes to load_module_resource = blah blah blah you get thepicture.

........

Of course, you could just install it in a separate folder and save yourself all the bother.

Score! 8)

Downloading right now, and I'll go upstairs in a sec.

Thank you so much for helping with this mod.
Someone I asked about the Native folder thing, told me it might be a bug, and to delete all the folders, save games and all and to reinstall, but I think I'll think I'll try this mod first.

Thanks again :green:!

Thanks for putting this together Leprechaun. However, when installing over Native I think it shifts all the items in the list, and since equipment given to units is called by the item number in the list, it messes with everything the units and NPCs wear. For example, with this mod the Vaegir army looks like this:

Oh, bumflaps. I knew something'd go wrong.

So, let's be installing into a different folder from now on.  :D

It ok about the clothes. As long as the people I'm fighting have clothes on I'm fine. When I'm playing all the people in the towns are wearing, are underwear and gloves.
The horses are just right though, so thank you to Chel for creating them, and thank you to Leprechaun for making it into a mod for me.

My favorite is the grey hunter.

Oh yeah, Chel, I forgot to tell you that I named them according to their colour and the like, so you have chestnut hunters, grey hunters etc. Makes it a lot easier to distinguish them.
Might make a thread about this, as a whole new mod.
