The Last Days / Re: TLD 3.1 - Bug Reports
« on: December 30, 2012, 03:41:44 PM »

While playing the game, THERE ARE NO STORES. I have no smithy or anything, thus making it practically impossible to continue playing and get further into the game. I've played the game for about 5 days of game time, and realized this. I checked a video, and he had stores while I didn't. The only things that I get upon entering a town/city is the basic go to town/visit the keep/rest/recruit options. I would REALLY appreciate help. Thanks in advance.

I don't like you, your sort and even the people that might like you for your other possible redeemable qualities.

I spent 2 years building those damned scenes so that you won't even walk your lazy ass around them long enough to find the merchants.
We shoulda just put menus in there instead of full scenes and I coulda spent the rest of my time whoring and boozing.

IIRC all Ironlauncher does is switching some files in the M&B main directory, e.g. font type. If you do that manually in a seperate install, your system shouldn't even "notice", should it?
I'm far from being an expert in such things, though, so I might be very, very wrong.

No, I think you're right. If you switch every file in a separate install, you probably shouldn't need the IronLauncher. But that install will ONLY run TLD then...

No bias.
Just difficult to fit book descriptions effectively into a game engine.

something i noticed, and was wondering.

will you be introducing more food available in the vendors at the later date, i have 300orcs (yes 300) and by the time i get to one place buy 3-4 food and go to another place to buy food they have already eaten it, i also noticed food is connected the same to certain places like dol guldur northern outpost has the same food store as dol guldur itself so if i buy food at dol guldur there will be no food at dol guldur northern outpost, the same for cair andros and west osgiliath, they have the same food store as morranon.

A bit of a point of orcs being extra hungry is for you to have human prisoners and kill & eat them...

If you don't want to wait for a patch, changing spawn points is actually very simple.

Perhaps you could describe this in more detail?

Well, admittedly, it takes some time to get used to the scene editor. Then, you can change the locations of the spawn points (yellow arrows) quite easily. Their numbers correspondend to who will spawn there (attackers or defenders), but it shouldn't be too hard to find out.

You know what? If it proves to be too difficult, just send me the savegame (right before joining the siege), and I will have a look at the scene.

Should be more or less fixed now and will be available in the patch...

Named my character "Patch" after the latest patch release.

Figured it would either be extraordinarily lucky or horribly jinxed.

Turns out he was lucky. He's only had 1 crash at a loss of between 1-2 days out of over 300 days of activity.

Go Patch!

We need to update the manual with this suggestion for game stability! :D

The Last Days / Re: Wargs as they are - cool or not?

Not sure if it's what you meant, but I do think the graphic design of the Wargs is quite fine, though I prefer the ugly, deformed wolves of my imagination over the Hyena-on-steroids of the movies and TLD. Anyroad, what I've a problem with is still about the invincible phantom rider who confuses my fellow AI troops.

Are we playing the same game here? TLD wolves are NOTHING like the movie ones, not an ounce of hyena in them, which even gained us some critique in the past from the movie fans.

Splendid job not understanding my point. I do not mind challenge. I mind things that I feel are a bit broken.

EDIT: I mean Mount & Blade beta, not TLD. If I understood correctly there's not a whole lot modders can do about the damage calculation system of the game itself.

Oh, ok. Sorry on the beta misunderstanding.

If you're after broken things, there's plenty of them in TLD. Some we weren't able to fix in the first place. Some were the closest we got to what we wanted given the limitations of the system. Some were practically hacks by modders to get some concept working. By now, however, it is extremely unlikely that any of them would go fixing game mechanics because some people don't like some of them...

The wargs were put in as they are to provide a challenge. To show the desperation of the good forces that have to fight not only a mean rider, but also a dangerous mount which would bite and attack on its own.

Remember one design decision about TLD....IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE BALANCED! It is playable, it is winnable, it is fun, it is frustrating, it is a general interpretation of LOTR put into a game the best we could. But it is not a stand-alone balanced package of a game. Many players of TLD will tell you they found ways of dealing with Wargs and how they did it and still managed to win the war. So see it as a challenge rather than trying to suggest it should be changed to fit your playing style expectations...

This is pretty much a very similar topic to the frustrations of players I read on DayZ forums, even though the author of that mod also clearly told players it's not meant to be balanced. It's meant to be difficult. So I will borrow a reply from there again:

If the game is too hard for you as it is, maybe you should play something else it on an easier level.

Since the modders are no longer doing a whole lot about the game, apart from trying to fix some of the persisting bugs, posts like this one are at least a year or two too late... I also don't know what Beta you speak of there, since there wasn't any public Beta for this version of TLD, and this version of TLD was pretty much completely different from all previous TLD releases since it was done almost from scratch...

and yet they hold it like a crossbow. So they must have poor accuracy.

They don't hold it like a crossbow, they hold it gangsta style. That was another mtarini's little addition to immersion lol.

Lot of the Beorn troops have shields.  Leftovers from earlier versions?

But, but, but...Beornings are meant to have Dale and Dwarven made shields, swords and helmets. They only do their own axes.

<something irrelevant> ... The Wargs in the movies ... <something else irrelevant>

Dude! Never, ever, even in your dreams, suggest anything to TLD devs with a "movie" argument. Ever!
It is guaranteed to provoke troll rage and have us stomp all over your post regardless of how well intentioned it may have been.
