Is 3.3 currently playable on Warband? I was looking at reinstalling TLD, should I wait for the next update?

Now we're even in the Steam Workshop,  of course is playable!

I suggest you to download the latest nightly from here, as I don't think we'll ever release another point version. Nightlies will do for now.

Finally encountered the issue some people have been mentioning.

Lost / Ran away from a battle--> got teleported up the mountains near Barad Dur. Cannot escape, had to quit.

Best way to test is to simply encounter some enemy, then 'run away,' keep doing so until bug is encountered.

Tested as Evil side, against some orc stragglers.

What the heck? Let me test that. Thanks for the reproducibility. This is pure gold.

Great looking mod! I'm really looking foreward to get to play it :) Thing is.. I will only be able to play it on my mac, so i was wandering will that be possible any time soon?

They have changed the way GLSL shaders work in the latest engine version for Linux and Mac OS X. Now apart from the GLSLShaders folder there's also a GLSLShadersOptimized, which basically boils down to a folder containing preprocessed fragment and vertex programs (this time for direct BRF shader references instead of HLSL techniques) filtered by what looks like GLSLOptimizer output.

It makes my job much muddier. And as of now, I had managed to rewrite the most basic shaders Marco Tarini did in HLSL and get them displaying beautifully.
With this change neither Linux and Mac OS X launch okay anymore (they show black screens) until you copy the GLSLShadersOptimized folder from the common directory in the game's root. Then the vanilla shaders look okay, but all the custom techniques in our mod look pretty glitchy, I don't know if you could call it playable.

On the other hand these preprocessed shaders load blazingly faster than the older ones, so props to TaleWorlds.
I remember having to wait 5 minutes staring at a black freezed screen every time I wanted to launch TLD in Linux.

So this is technically a good move. Even if makes my work way harder.

My gaming computer just puttered out so I'm on my laptop and thought I'd either continue my old campaign of TLD on vanilla M&B or try out the warband version. I really haven't played much Warband so I don't know much about it- is it much better than the regular? Worth the d\l and new campaign?

Second... I see some mention of a 'bug' killing off the wargs after their rider is killed. I remember warg-cleanup being particularly tedious. Is there a particular build to find in order to get a version with this 'bug'?

If anyone's still around that is!

Well, the Warband version is just prettier, but slightly worse gameplay-wise and less tested.
About wargs, the latest nightlies make them more bearable and balanced, I hope.

Disappearing mounts were a bug, not a feature. TLD has a well defined design that I don't plan to change.. :)

I made this little quick start page to ease the task of finding and installing the latest patches:
http://tldbot.bitbucket.org

So, go there if you end up installing Warband.
Swyter,

Are formations fixed for warband yet? That's honestly my favourite part of this mod, the flawless formations that started at the beginning of the battle and how fun it was to order an advance into enemy formations!

Also, how much more bearable are wargs? Cleaning up wargs was super irritating and easily the biggest con of the mod ( It's still my favourite mod anyhow). If they're still a pain to cleanup ( meaning they regen all their heath a second after their rider is dead, they crash through unlimited ranks of men, and they twist and turn making it impossible lance them), would you please consider telling us how to modify our games personal to keep the "bug" that kills the mount when the rider is dead? It would seriously improve the fun of the game!

Read Trello, CppCoder is in charge of formations. He kind of fixed them, but there is some polishing needed.
About wargs, download the latest nightly and check them out. They should keep their low health, no regen.

You've to think of me as a guest, I cannot come here and start changing gameplay elements at will.

The Last Days / Re: TLD For new Mac Version of warband?
« on: February 18, 2015, 01:35:03 AM »
First of all, the auto installer is just for Mount&Blade 1.011. TLD is only Warband-compatible since 3.3.

And well, just for the record. I've been trying the latest version of TLD in Warband for Linux (which should be almost the same as for Mac) and made the latest nightly run.

It loads and is playable, but the DirectX shaders (HLSL) need to be rewritten to OpenGL (GLSL), so as of now there's a lot of visually wonky stuff.

1. To grab the latest everything just go here: http://tldbot.bitbucket.org

2. To see how the shader work is going take a look to this Trello card: https://trello.com/c/NKXjx9Nj/73-glitches-bugs-and-shader-incompatibilities-in-the-linux-version-of-warband-mac-too-i-guess

(TLD for M&B 1.011)

1. Patrolling around "Woodelf West Camp"

I have no idea of how to fix this. Probably MadVader or GetAssista may even know where to start.

2. "It's rumored that a single troll can esily [...]"

A letter, pfff, just fixed it.

3. King Dain II Ironfoot carries the banner of the Beornings

Weird. The banner assignments are specified statically inside an array. Maybe a mishap?

4. Foggy halls of Erebor

This also happens in SWC sometimes.

5. In the siege of the main rhun camp, all units are spawning at the same location or randomly across the scenario.

I fixed it in march, it's all in Trello with pretty pictures. I don't know if the scene replacement has been uploaded yet, though.

using warband

as i visited thranduils halls, i noticed something odd. miriel took thranduils place on the throne, but she was still standing, while thranduil was sitting in mid air.

EDIT: the warg fix does not work, i used notepad to copy the text from trello and saved it with unicode but the game crashes on startup. i dont have the original file so please help?

Fixed the throne room problem in Thranduil's hall room and hopefully others. I can't fathom why it didn't order them correctly in your save, maybe depends on troop count and Miriel had more than his boss.

Now apart from sorting them with the leaders first it will also work for when there's just lords in the scene, without leader, even if the fix for this is a bit more flimsy.

The Last Days / Re: Alternative SFX

He probably added movie-related music and sound effects.

Just sound FX, no music replacer, Vladan did great work. But almost every battle cry is replaced by another from different  LOTR games. Weapon and battle sounds taken from TW series. By the way, actually it turns out that part of original mod SFX taken from TW game too.

It's quite likely that the sound effects had to be sourced from third parties as the sound department of modding teams is just non-existent.
And I thank you for taking the time of posting your sub-mod, as you can see I fixed the download button image for you up there.

Playing with the warband patch and hotfixes from swyter googledrive.

I had an issue where i got stuck in the conversation menu with barracks guy, after donating some troops to his camp.

After some testing i've found that it only happens if you level up any of your troops while in the troop exchange menu.
I guess you just need to lock the update button, like it is for the recruitment version of the menu.

Alright, the right thing would be fixing the bug that tries to count troops before/after, but the logic in there is extremely tangled and cryptic.

So, I've made as you said and locked the upgrade button on those occasions. Seems easier, and just works, but is a bit hacky. *fixed*

There seems to be ALOT of new bugs with warband version.

I've run across like 10+ I didnt have when last playing 1.011 tld.

unfortunately I really dont have the time right now to write them all up

here is one I just came across which looks pretty gamebreaking, no wonder rohan keep getting raped so much.

http://prntscr.com/33ggz7

they aren't assisting each other at all it seems.

I also had to turn off battle formations to fix my men just following me around constantly and not following any orders or attacking.

Just so that you know... This doesn't help me. :)
Read Trello and help me with specific details.

I know that is going to rain, I want to know why and when.

The Last Days / Re: TLD 3.3 Suggestions
« on: March 18, 2014, 10:26:04 AM »
Hi, fantastic to see TLD alive again!

Playing the Warband port now, and since you already caught the bug regardning inventories (with Rhun swords, Rohan lances and Orc bows plus  Tools appearing in good smithys) might I again suggest that when that is fixed, we return to having only overall Gondor gear at Minas Tirith and some of the minor fiefs (those without a flag of their own) and a mix Gondor gear and fief-specific gear in the major fiefs? It really adds to immersion when you have to travel to Pelargir to get a Pelargir sword or to Dol Amroth for the panoply of a Swan Knight.  Also, with everything mixed, it can be hard to get the generic Gondor gear - too much Pinnath Gelin or Lossarnach stuff cluttering the Minas Tirith inventory.

I saw it when I fixed it and at first it looked like a bug. Then I took a look to the item distribution and saw that it was intended. I agree with you, nonetheless.

But I'm just porting it at the moment, I'm not aiming to do fancy stuff like that.

Is anyone still playing the original M&B version?  I'm seeing a lot of posts about Warband, but I'm curious to any hiccups in M&B (I don't have time to play until later this year).

FS

I guess, and I hope. TLD in M&B 1.011 is still more stable and has more features than my Warband version.

I guess that the recent surge of Warband players hasn't helped to the cause. TLD 3.3 it's just a "minor" patch for existing TLD players. With relatively few features worth the trouble of downloading half a gigabyte worth of Tolkien.

Playing as an orc, I'm unable to interact with Master Burza Krual while he's in Gundabad. He's behind an invisible wall and no matter what I do, I can't get the interact prompt to talk to him. Similarly, while playing as an Uruk (not sure if race matters), I cannot interact with Gothmog while he's at Minas Morgul unless I jump. While jumping I briefly get the interact prompt while in mid-air and can speak to him that way.

Thanks for the great report. I forgot to correct those barriers. Take a look to the original issue:
