Certain units like Elves need to have higher morale. In one battle, they ran away before we even reached them--but, when I turned morale off, they absolutely slaughtered my side, with minimal losses.

Still working on the morale system, at least it is (somewhat) playable. :)

I killed a party of twelve dunish outlaws, single-handed, yet got no loot. Tried it a couple more times in case I was unlucky--but the same thing happened.

Well. They're outlaws and from Dunland. They use sticks for weapons. What's your looting skill?

They mean that when there is a battle of ten-to-one in evil's favour, it isn't, "OMG, Elves are awesome and epic level, lol, All Orcs Must Die!", instead, the good ones are something more like, "Well.... we're ******. For Gondor!!".

I do see your point that the totalled armies of the two sides, the evil outnumbers the good. Good troops are meant to be generally better, and I think generally Good Commanders are meant to be brighter than the Evil Commanders (this would be a definitive factor)? Since the Good was usually on the defensive, they might also have the advantages of terrain (especially if the orcs don't know much about the terrain they're going to invade).

Haven't read the books closely enough to say exactly how things went generally, outside the main battles.

Idea for the lord problem:

After defeating a Lord's host, sometimes you'll get the message, "Lord X is escaping!". And you can choose, "Ignore him" or, "Pursue him!!".

If you pursue him, you end up in a fight with a few of your elite units (such as companions) against the Lord and his elite bodyguard units. The player might be at a disadvantage in numbers, however, since they had to maximize speed to catch up (whereas the Lord had a head-start).


Another good way to deal with the Lord problem, would be to have it that when a Lord escapes from a defeated army, rather than teleporting to the capital, a small, fast party appears on the map, near the defeated army. "Lord X's Personal Retinue". It would be the Lord, plus some elite bodyguards. It'd also be very fast... so you'll need to take only a swift, small portion of your army if you want to catch him.

That might be less of a problem with elves being taken prisoner, and more of a problem of elves not being balanced properly, as of yet.

Meduion, what your doing sounds awesome. When you feel the troop files have become satisfactory, could you please upload them for us to download and try out? Over time, we might even be able to get a full Realistic Model for TLD, if someone handled prices, someone handles troops, and etc..

Been asked to capture an enemy commander for Saruman. Problem is, there aren't any enemy lords on the field, and it seems lieutenants don't count.

So, I went and attacked a enemy host of Gondor instead... but when I defeat it, there isn't even a message reading, "so-n-so managed to escape!" instead, I just get the loot and regular prisoners. Also four rank points with Umbar, for beating the 100 man host.... I get that from delivering one message, I think.

Erm, where is the Mouth of Sauron, in the Leader's Cave? It says he is in Moranon, but I can't seem to find him...

He has a chamber of his own, with a corridor leading to it, to the right in the main cave, when you enter it.

Found an odd bug. With the quest to collect two trolls, for your king/whatever.

I was a uruk-hai of isengard, I got the two trolls on my way to Moria... But, when I spoke to Whip Snotgor, I got an interesting response. I picked the option, "About the task you gave me..." Then I had the choice of, "Master, I got you not one, but two beasts!".

Not a major bug, but I mentioned it anyway.


EDIT: Just discovered a more interesting detail... You see, I had the quest to dispatch a scout party, for Snotgor. So I went and did that. Then I came back and picked, "About the Task you gave me..." And then I had the options of, "I dispatched the scouts" and "I collected not one, but two beasts!".

Thank you for your quick response.

I think we see eye to eye in both my concerns.
Im not saying that orcs or whatever NEVER eat human flesh, but maybe there could be some delay to when they will eat their prisoners.

Is there any possibility that you will add these features?
I'm not on the Dev Team, sorry. I like your ideas, and it would be nice to make these small changes.

Not sure about there being a delay on eating prisoners. The player is the leader, the leader decides when the prisoners should be butchered. If you decide to do it unnecessarily early, that's your own blunder.



@Talinn: Currently, I think it is impossible to take elven prisoners at all. This was on the basis that orcs hate elves a lot, and always kill them rather than taking them prisoner (elves do the same to orcs). However, if in he Similarion it states that elves were taken prisoner, I think this should be changed.
