The Last Days / Re: Bladnir's TLD Rebalanced
« on: January 16, 2014, 01:57:01 PM »
Downloaded but forgot how to reactivate advance custom battle.
Anyway Corsair are supposed to have the best evil bow. Also Dale cavalry is supposed to be quite bad, not just worse Rohan but also worse than generic Gondor cavalry because they live in valley/mountains far from plains.

Just upgraded the mod properly (Tortoise SVN had a problem)...morale seems work fine and I noticed the new Beorning armors, still have to test animals: they ambushed when I forgot some files and were invisible but now that it should be fixed didn't have enough "luck" for that yet.

Well forgive me for not agreeing with your interpretation of the books, but when I see a sub-elite Rivendell cavalry unit, surrounded by 13 large orcs and stuck against a tree - unable to move, barely flinching from the continuous blows, slowly chopping them down one by one, and eventually winning and riding away after *more than 30 tedious seconds*... I also feel the balance, and whoever designed it, can very much be called biased.  :P

Mmmm...this a mechanic game thing caused by heavy armor. I suspect that a Amroth knight would did the same. Main elven advantage is the better weapon proficiency and a very good starting armor, but at high levels the armor are at the same level of main good humans (better than Beorning and Dale but not better than Rohan and Gondor).

im playing as orc..sens the mod came out..i got the feeling as i play the mod is anti dark forces kinda feeling..i understand the orcs meant to be cannon fodder but..i think its too much...its almost emposible to survive anything when facing elfs or other good side races..is it only me that feel like this..or i misst the part where it metion this mod is "anti dark side and pro elfs all the way"
i see allso patches coming out and evry time i hear theres gona be blanace..but..evry time..i dont see it..

sorry for the bad english

Balance doesn't mean orcs will be as powerful as elves, they simply aren't. We're not anti-anything, I like orcs.

For me an army made of orcs only seems more efficient than one of Beorning only because at least you have cavalry.

In BFME2, Galadriel is summonable when you get the one ring, she has a tornado as her power. And in the campaign after you siege Dol Guldur she destroys it with a cleansing tornado. I don't know if this is correct by the book, but I recall Dol Guldur being cleansed by the elves or something like that..

In BFME2 even Arwen is a good fighter. Still Galadriel have the ring but seems the ring has a defensive power (maybe protect Lorien trees from being burned?) else she would used the ring to attack at the beginning of the Ring War instead of waiting the destruction of the One Ring that weakened the three elven rings.

About Galadriel maybe she is like Yuria in Hokuto no Ken: she doesn't fight but she is powerful because she inspire others.

In the war against Rhun there wasn't mass suicide because Sauron fall, but still lack of morale was decisive. Without it Rhun would won.
In the war against Isengard also morale was important to lose less soldier: Gandalf used special effects to persuade Dunlendings to give up.

Remember to test with both good and evil guys before suggesting because Gondor should endure more when you use evil guys and the same for the evil factions in north if you are using good guys.
Game wise the battlefronts are four: south (Gondor vs Mordor, Harad, Khand and Umbar), southwest (Rohan vs Isengard and Dunlendings), centre (Imladris and Lorien vs Moria and Dol Guldur) and north (Woodmen, Mirkwood, Dale and Erebor vs Gundabad and Rhun).
Depite this I noticed that north front is splitted in two: Rhun vs Erebor and Dale and Mirkwood and Woodmen vs Gundabad. I suppose because geography.

Yesterday I was flabbergassed.  I entered a battle and found 2 trolls as a part of the enemy party.  This is the first time in 4 games that I found that.  This was a Moria party.

P.S. I'm using 3.15 no RCM.

Im using Rene's party template with trolls and it's so much fun. Especialy when they team up with my armoured troll that I aquired from Saruman. I love him so much that I would kiss him if I could, 'cause of the way he fucks up elven infantry, especialy those Arnor bastards. Without him, I could never win those orc vs elf batles. On the other hand, I want to kill him myself when he mixes with my infantry and kills 5 orcs for one elf.

How do you keep armored troll in your party?

Wait, so vota you're not ''officially'' working on the mod with the troop/item stuff :o?

I am, but this is about script I suppose, something I haven't figured yet how to do. Maybe I should try dialogue.

With high cheating I love to behaving like Nobody, the Terence Hill's character: I teleport, recruit give max experience and give troops to allied lords, sometimes I soften enemy parties a little before they engage my allies...in few words I make my best to give the glory to my allies but I never win personally.
I suggest to make possible to give Dol Guldur more troops: last time I tried I could give only snaga and orc of Guldur but not higher tier...maybe because high tier of Guldur is labeled as Mordor.

About lore wise
Harad should have two times Rohan lords (three times at Pelennor, but some Rohan leaders were left home)
Rhun should have a number of lords similar to Dale and Erebor combined.
Dol Guldur should have more lords, don't know exact number but surely more than Moria. Gundabad and Corsair could have less lords.

Some generals from south should be transfered to north?

The sound that orcs make when you swing the weapon (if you keep the attack) doesn't remind you Donald Duck?

For AI war if you play evil side there is a handicap (50%) for bad guys. Rohan front wasn't touched at all, while north front we have Moria with cheaper (so low level) riders and Gundabad with more expensive riders. South had the majors changes: tier 5 fiefdom troops (except Amroth) are 25 level only. This help a lot player but make Gondor a little weaker: but very little since top tier fiefdom troops are very rare.

Usually Gondor is always doomed while evil in north is losing by grinding when you use good guys or by razing of bases if you use evil guys and don't help them (because the handicap factor).
Rohan is the surprise factor: or it start with the siege of one uruk-hai camp or X Enmet/Westfold is destroyed soon....the side that destroy the base first will win but the war is even longer than Gondor one.

During the war of the Two Towers, Gandalf come to warn me that one evil faction is down and the dawn will come soon. Very kind from him but....why?
