Discussion / double-sided polygons supported in M&B?

I am developing tents (inside and out) and wanted to know if I could get away with using double-sided polygons.  

If so, is there anything special I need to do differently from objects like armor and weapons?  Do I have to set properties in Maya like back-face culling, etc or is all that stuff in the M&B scripts for the object?  Im not sure that stuff exports with .OBJ files...    

I assume if double-sided is possible there is no issues with alpha-channels.
