Hi all,

just installed the Dec 2015 nightly patch, continued on and old save and:

- played for abt. 160 game days after patching, 280 days total. No lords/companions killed or captured.

So I wonder if that feature removed or the patch is not save compatible?

And a big THX to all devs keeping this mod alive.

Dear devs,

have you nerfed elf archery or improved orc archery?

Because now better tiers of orc archers are able to keep even with elves. Which I don`t like all that much...

SCOUT MISSIONS BUGGED BY THIS MOD?

Hi all,

after making a new install with this mod on top I can`t finish the "scout settlements" missions awarded after The Great War starts.
No matter how long I run around a settlement the "scouted" message doesn`t appear.

Anyone else having this?

Launch Trouble

Hi all,

after installing the first 3.23 update, the big one with Iron Launcher, I can`t launch the game with it. Neither as admin or common user.
The thing launches properly with the ordinary launcher however with or without Game Booster.

CAN I update the game with remaining patches on top of this and expect normal behaviour or not?

I`m on Win7 SP1. HP Pavilion g6 laptop, 6 GB RAM.

Rgds, Oldtimer

The current 3.23 version does not require nor make use of the IronLauncher, and running it without it will work just fine. Yes, installing patches should work just as before.

@Merlkir,

THX for your attn. Things seem to work OK.

Rgds, Oldtimer

That was CppCoder, not me. Btw. ;)

Hi Merlkir,

THX for your attn.. Found the file in the quarantine bin and told Norton to disregard it. Could install the thing, but it gave another problem. See new thread.

Hi all,

righty, found TLD_3.23_Hotfix_1.exe on Dropbox and dl-ed.

Norton provided threat name this time:

- WS.Reputation.1. I have no idea of what it is but it`s deleted immediately.

Any comments?

Hi all,

got around to reinstall 3.23 on 1.011 enhanced and when I ran the first fix(the big one, abt. 30 MB IIRC) Norton said it`s an unsafe file and deleted it.
Now I`d like to know why Norton did that and how it could delete the dl-ed fix .exe without trace. And I`d appreciate a link to that fix, as I`m unable to find it.

New vids in English and German are up - have fun!

If I choose that I cannot use interracial equipment - can I still use Elven arrows as Rider of Rohan?

Yes, there is an option to use the equipment that drops from the other side.  I always turn this on instead of receiving scrap.  I do this because I find it more realistic AND the amount of cash you make is really a lot less.  So, it makes the game harder, while I get to use whatever scraps I find on the battlefield.

FS

Hi Fleshy,

agree that the game becomes harder that way. But not really lore correct. I can`t imagine an elf using any evil equipment under any circumstances.
Or good men using orc stuff, they might perhaps use some evil men thingies though. Anyway, it`s for the player to decide what he picks up, so it`s all abt. roleplaying and will-power, come to think of it. You can use all equipment of your side without any problems or workarounds, so just go to the elves and buy what you want.
Lorien armour is very cost efficient, BTW.

Thanks guys, but I don't think money is the main issue (right now at least)  :green:. I've got some real life stuff I need to deal with first, (e.g., college stuff :P). But after I'm accepted to the college I am working towards I'll need a working laptop anyway, so I should be getting a new HDD within a few months. TLD is not dead yet, just a minor setback. :)

God be praised!!! And CppCoder too...

It's not a matter of data lost, rather of the fact Cpp doesn't have a computer to code on. ;)

Hi,

still, a matter of cost. And still, I`m willing to contribute according to my modest means.

A "Donate" button might be of use.

Rgds, Oldtimer

OK, just so you four-or-so guys still playing TLD know, Cpp's notebook crossed river Styx into the dark lands of dead hard drives, so official TLD development is pretty much stopped. We've had a nice couple of scenes made by Temuzu for the Lost Spears quest, but nobody to implement them. ;)

Hi,

who are the other three?

On topic, if the disc itself is not damaged the data is salvageable.
A matter of cost of course. Myself I`d be willing to contribute some euros for such a noble cause and I`m sure there are others who also would.

TLD should not fade away like this.

@ Oldtimer

You're looking at this from tactical perspective, i.e. how good are different troops on the battlefield. Remember though, that the game is decided on the strategic level, where all the AI battles happen on autocalc. The balancing I'm talking about is based on how that strategic part of the game plays out. Currently it is heavily skewed towards good because of it being overpowered in the North. This is definitely incompatible with lore, but IMO it also affects gamepley negatively.

@ Rene Korda

Frankly, perspective is irrelevant unless you play a hands-off game after you reach lvl 8. The faction player joins will win if he/she/it concentrates on leadership, weapon skills and tactics. Actually, whoring leadership is enough, come to think of it.
I do agree though that autocalc as it is now and probably will remain is a balance problem in itself.

It would be rather nice if someone made a submod that would change the balance of forces in the North by changing the amount of armies that different factions have. Something like this:

- two less armies for Rivendell;

- two more armies for Dol Guldur;

-  one less army for Beornings, Dale and Erebor;

- one more army for Rhun.

This would tilt the balance in favor of the evil side and make it roughly what it should be based on the books. Currently the war in the North is imbalanced very strongly towards the good side.

Hi Rene,

I disagree somewhat:

- Beornings are fairly useless due to substd armour, You have to use them right. They're very powerful on the offense, similarly to Rhun.

- I have not seen any "good" magic attacking evil armies in Lothlorien as in TLD 2.4.

- Rhun are OP on 1v1, no armour for many, yet hard to kill, excellent horse archery and very strong charge.

- Nazgul attacks(when fighting Dol Guldur) can be absolutely devastating, I`ve lost abt. 25% of my party a few times due to that.

What perhaps could be done is to make reinforcement of good MP pool slower. TLD breaks lore already in a way making a "good" victory in a conventional war possible.
As it seems quite impossible for Rohan and Gondor to stay alive without expeditionary forces from the North a fairly quick "good" victory in the North is necessary.
I play with fog of war on and no teleporting which may partly explain my opinion that the good guys are not OP.

Hi all,

- remove tattered/ragged items. Who would buy such non protective trash at a merchants? This would free up slots for other items. I really do miss the glaive...

Rgds, Oldtimer

Item modifiers aren't additional items. The amount of items stays the same, but you can add or remove a number of modifiers to them...

Hi Triglav,

drat... So as of now to add an item you must delete another one, right?

But anyway, there is no reason IMO to have such items cluttering up merchant inventories.
