Q: When is the release date?
A: For the 1.011 version it was October 31, 2011. For Warband? February 15th 2014.
Q: Why don't you keep a developer's log/tell the community about progress?
A: Short answer is that it accomplishes little and takes too much time. Time that could be, and is, better spent making real progress on the mod. There's also the fact that people tend to try to construe release dates out of every update we post, which can get old very fast. However, the major factor is that we like to keep things a secret so that it will be a surprise. If we posted everything we do, a lot of the 'springing a big surprise' enjoyment is gone. We want to give you all a pleasant shock.

A: We have.
Q: You've been porting this for over four years, why couldn't you do it faster?
A: The main project creator, Ancientwanker, was porting TLD by himself until April 2009. Even us on the Dev team at the time don't know how far he got, or how close to a release he was. In April, AW vanished without a trace. It took several months for the rest of the team to realize and come to grips with the fact that he wasn't coming back, and then decide to continue on without him. The main reason it is taking so long is because AW was the only one with the original code. We have had to rewrite all of the code one hundred percent from scratch, and over 95% of the graphics have also been completely redone. In essence, we since June we have been making TLD almost completely from scratch. That's what has been taking us so long.
Q: Why are the Devs psychopathic maniacs who hate everyone?
A: Fair question. I know it often seems that we come down hard on people, or are just plain bad tempered, but please try to bear with us. Firstly, we've been at this a long time, and the continual repetition of the same old questions would begin to tell on anyone. Secondly, we all have lives. Some of us are hard up college students, most of us have jobs, and all of us have lives outside the computer. We work on TLD in our spare time, and for enjoyment. That enjoyment can begin to pall when people start demanding things as if they have a right to our time or work. I would say this is largely why TLD development is as hush hush as it is. We're here to have fun, we aren't a corporation. Most of the time it's simply easiest not to say anything, and work at our own sustainable pace

Is there any way to disable the native music? Every time I hear this instead of TLD ones, I'm losing the atmosphere of Middle Earth ;P
For now you can go to MB/Music folder and replace a list of ogg files with something else, preserving the filenames.

If anyone else doesn't like vanilla music in TLD, you could download this mod:

and replace ogg's mentioned above with the ones in MB/music folder. This is ambient soundtrack, so you will hear birds, wind etc instead of native music :) I did it and the feel is really better than with crappy (in my opinion) native soundtrack. Of course the TLD soundtrack will stay untouched and you will still be hearing it.
I have heard talk of a new soundtrack being developed by the same artist who created the TLD tracks for this release. Is this true? I really like the new music.

Did you follow the instruction and load from IronLauncher or copy the game files over?
I have been playing for quite a long time now and have only received one trait. How common is it to get traits? Can we only get them through actions in battle? It would be nice to have a few hints on how to obtain them as I feel I am missing something.If we told you how to get them, it wouldn't be that much fun for you, would it? They are rare and mysterious.
In the quest to free X number of prisoners, do you need to take them into your party or just free them? Can they be any kind of allies, or must they be "nobles" who are held prisoner?They need to be taken to your party. There is also a helpful counter in the quest notes for tracking your progress, I believe.
Playing as a Dunedain, some questions from a beginner in this beautiful mod :- Go to a friendly capital, and talk to the barracks commander.
- How can you "train" your character (if it is even possible) ?
- What is the max number of companions you can recruit ? Are they moving around like in vanilla ?
- Can you give some advices for a fresh start ?

Note that because of our own sanity we don't support hacks and changes to TLD. And that's also why we won't help you doing that.You don't have to be that dramatic, but thanks for your honesty anyway.
People tend to try all kinds of hacks, with different degrees of fail, then they'll likely report them as our bugs, and waste our precious time that we could use to help people with genuine problems.
So, please use your judgement and assume responsibility. Or best of all, consider that you don't really have to hack TLD to enjoy it.

mhm... I suspect this might depend on how battlescenes were constructed (random vs preconstructed). Try notice which type of scenes has it and which does not. It's easily fixable, if we know which scenes lack baggage

It will only result in hundreds of noobs doing tweaks and posting them as mods, much to the confusion of casual players and without adding much value.
I would prefer instead if proven modders with ideas and the desire to make TLD better join the TLD team.
Well, thats entirely up to the TLD team and I can respect that - it's your work.
Having options isn't necessarily a bad thing though, after the mod is in a stable state (ie, out of beta with most of the bugs fixed). Just because someone makes a mod of your mod isn't going to degrade the the base mod, and from my experience casual users don't generally trawl the boards downloading every minimod they come across - they just grab the main mod and go with it. Many casual M&B users are still playing Native.
The people you have to worry about are the ones with just enough experience with computers to know how to screw everything up, but without enough to realize it's their fault :D. Cue tech support horror stories... or all the PMs I get from doing that M&B tweaks thing way back 3 years ago when we didn't have the source code for M&B 1.0 Native and editing the text files was the only way to mod it, I still get PMs about those with people trying to do them in Warband and then coming to me saying they broke their game. I stopped doing that as soon as the module system released, and still it persists lol... But I digress.
Having the source out there would even allow people who don't have the time or inclination to join the team who make suggestions to actually include functional code to go with the suggestion, which is a lot more useful than "Wouldn't it be cool if..."
Plus I hate to say it but people could still mod it without the source and release tweaks no matter how much you try to prevent it, it'd just be dirtier. Just for personal use I've corrected some of the bugs that have already been reported and fixed in the dev build straight from the text files, added in some features I like to play around with (like import/export of npcs in case I change my mind about how to level them), as well as buffing the wimpy orc equipment to make some of the fights more challenging, just for my own enjoyment until the patches come. I'm knowledgeable enough to do extensive script modding without any of the source (even with most of your scripts named s to prevent that, heh - which makes it obvious you don't want mods done), I just wouldn't bother since I wouldn't release anything without permission out of respect for your work anyway (plus it would dilute your bug reports and such). The sad thing is a lot more people seem to take the time to edit the text files than learn the module system, which if anything are the 'noobs' you're worried about.

I'm curious, is taking lords prisoner disabled? I've never managed to capture one and have not seen others capturing lords. And on a related note, are you planning on implementing rescue missions like in 2.4? It seems the fantastic scenes you guys made are suitable for that (but I realize coding and bughunting such quests is quite a task). Browsers can cache a corrupt download. You can try a different link, or a different browser. You can also delete your browser's cache and try again.
Hi, I'm having troubles installing the 3.01 patch. I installed original TLD 3.0 manually, copying all the files to the MnB folders and everything worked perfectly. Now I downloaded the patch and unzipped it in to the TLD folder, but there is only TLD_patch3.01 folder there and it didn't even ask about overwriting any files? I copyed all the files from the patch folder to the MnB folders, but i still think the patch didn't quite work for me since I still can still play with my old character. So could anyone please advice me more specifically trough the patch installation?

i did so but he gives no special dialogue or quest. did i do something wrong? (haven't patched yet btw)

My question is rather simple and may have already been asked, but I'll ask here. In my current Isengard let's play, several of my viewers want to see me use trolls. So, this leads up to my question.
1.) Where do I get them? I was told Dol Goldur and Isengard.
2.) Is there a troop tree that leads to them? Or do I need to increase my rank and then I'll be able to hire them?
One last question too.
What are some viable tactics for me to use against Elven forces? I always take extensive losses against them and I'm trying to minimize that. I'm not recruiting any archers (with the exception of some uruk archers) due to their minimal damage against the Elven armor, so it's been Uruk-Hai and wags primarily now in my army composition.

A funny (albeit slightly buggy and exploitable) tactic against infantry heavy armies is to have an army of warg riders and have them dismount at the beginning of battle then remount, activating the wargs. Then have the cavalry charge. The wargs are more dangerous without the riders, and the riders will fight on foot better than they fight from the wargs.

I have a question about the 'eliminate' kind of missions.
I received orders to destory 5 'Mordor Raiders' unit.
I have done it so far, with 5 unit counts.
But my question is, I have killed way more units than that- I engaged a tons of them at once with Imrahil- who is on some kind of mission.
How does the 'count' works? Do they count the other units that join a large battle, and is 'Morgul Raiders' counted as well?
So you have to find ways to single them out and destory them one by one...

Yeah, especially when you get a quest to destroy 8 scout units with your 50-men party. Personally, I've never completed a quest like that even when the targets were patrols.
First of all, thx for the mod, the best i've played!
I have some problems with the mod: in battles the game stop and crashes and, some times, when i try to save the game it stop and crashes too... I have tryed low the graphics but it still with the same problem. I dont think my computer is the problem, he is capable enough to run this mod: AMD Phenon II X6 1100T, 8G of memory, 1T of HD and Sapphire Radeon HD6870.

Speaking of quests, is it actually possible to capture an enemy commander? I've offed dozens of parties led by dudes with names, but I've never, ever seen one actually captured.
In my current game, Luevanna got knocked unconscious in a battle, and thus serious wounded. Normally, the wounded companions will be healed within one day or two, but Luevanna remain serious wounded even more than a week has passed. I have Faniul in my party with wound treatment 5 and I always keep Luevanna from danger, but still can't heal her.
So my question is, is this normal that serious wounds require more time to heal or do I need to find a better healer or other ways to heal her? Thanks :)
IIRC devs have said that commanders can only be captured if you have the capture enemy commander-quest.

I was going to come by and ask about this, since my Galmyne had a head injury for a very, very long time, but it does seem to go away... Eventually.
I've had some trouble with this too. I now have three companions with lingering head wounds. I had a few script errors as I was trying to rest and let them recover (didn't get screenshot unfortunately...) But It's been several months, and none of them have been wounded. Methinks it's a bug, not just a time issue.

'Blunt' kinds of weapon should have no ability to 'kill'- they are supposed to knock them down.
(Well, I once modded a epic mace with some 40 damages, together with powerstrike, it actually did kills)
'Cut' may have a lower chance to kill, IDK. (the other bowmen use 'cut' types of bows, for some reasons?)
Only elven archer have 'pierce' type of bows.

hmm, well, i have downloaded with IE, Firefox, Chrome, and having cleared cache previous to download on every count, and somehow, it never works...
now, i'm pretty sure i'm not doing 'something wrong' as all i'm doing is clicking 'download now'...

I have my game ruined by scout bug a this point every save is bugged. The suggestion to delete minor parties don't run. When i go in ctr+t mode use ctr+click I don't delete minor parties but my party run where I clicked....Can I do something other beside to wait for 3.02?Ctrl-Click is not 'delete'- it's 'teleport'.

I followed the instructions to install the 3.01 patch, but when I start my the game, I'm able to restore my old saves. To me, this means that I must installed the patch incorrectly. I extracted the files into the TLD folder, and I thought that was all I had to do. Did I miss anything?
So I am a Lothlorien elf.
I am pretty far through the game, the great war started a couple weeks ago.
I cant seem to figure out how to recruit Lothlorien infantry, all that shows up is scouts, and they only upgrade to later archers, and mounted archers.
How do I recruitinfantrySwordsmen units?
So, for the quest of the "troublesome goblins" quest where the camp cheif says they only attack lone travelers: Do you have to disband your entire party to get in a fight with them and complete this quest? What about companions? it seems like quite a price considering that you don't have anywhere to put your party aside where you can pick them up later.
This is probably a very silly question that I will feel dumb about later. Nevertheless -
I read people talking about playing as a "moria orc" or "gundabad orc," but for the life of me I can't find any other orc starting options than Mordor, Dol Guldur, or Isengard. Am I missing something obvious, or do people just mean that they're playing a Dol Guldur orc and recruiting Moria/Gundabad troops?

I've been fortunate enough to export my character shortly before, but is there any way to restore my progress in the campaign?Probably not. In that case you made a mistake somewhere during installation. It's impossible to tell where from this type of description, sorry.
Any tips would be most helpful, and if my Moria gobbo army is doomed to fail all the time no matter what I do, I'd like to know so perhaps I can go and rob Isengard of their Uruks.
Ulven, have you tried RCM? It's far more deadly then the vanilla version, which gives orcs certain edge in melee against the elves - that is, you actually can overwhelm them with numbers. On the flip side, elven archers are more deadly under RCM.
I'm sorry to say this but discard those Moria gobbos and start recruiting Numenoreans from Mordor. Once you get 20-30 horsemasters you'll never lose another battle. I've got 40-50 atm and can swipe a party of 300-400 down without losses if lucky.
I went to Isengard and got some Uruks and fought some Rohirrims and they were much easier to defeat than before. I were also able to defeat elves with my veteran army up north, even though my losses were great. I'll definitely check out the Numenoreans as well. If they're only a tenth as good as you claim, they'll still be a hundred times better than my Moria goblins, hehe.
It's a shame to break my "clean" army up, but it's a lot more enjoyable to actually be able to win a fight.
Hasn't anyone done the Troll quest for Saruman where you're supposed to capture a Troll? I haven't played since I asked my question since I don't want to fail the quest and I really really want to play. :P
As I've said, I've trekked up and down from Fangorn to Gundabad several times, but I can't find any trolls. Is the quest bugged, am I just unlucky or is Saruman wrong and I'm supposed to look somewhere else for them?
I usually find them around that area, whether I am doing the quest or not. The parties are a blue colour that distinguishes them (though it is almost Rivendell's shade IIRC) and there is usually only 1 in the company, sometimes 2, I think I might have even seen 3 once but they are very small parties and noticeable just for that.
If im reading the manaul to install tld i do not know in what folder i need to put all files in maybe in modules>native?? , or just in the main folder , i think i correctly installed it but some body's are not shown and if i try to buy a mount or weapon it gives a error and armor and weapons aren't shown
im hopeless... i putted now all items in the map modules>native now i get the error get_shader failed for:windy_flora

Is it possible to change the unit groups in Mount & Blade 1.011 and with TLD 3.01 mod installed: like add more groups ( e.g. Horse Archers) ? Or at least to change which unit belongs to what group.No, that's a Warband feature.

Also, are special item rewards given by factions repeatable? Can you get something like the Silmarillion from Denethor twice?
Morale has become a real issue for me now that I have 147 troops in my party.
Despite having max variety of food, cooking pot, and winning every battle I fight, morale deteriorates to 0 extermely rapidly if I travel anywhere.
Right now I'm stuck with 0 morale, every enemy army runs away, and since I can't fight to regain morale, 10 of my elite top tier troops desert all the time.
It's extremely annoying, why are troops so bloodthirsty? If you aren't killing hundreds of enemies every 5 minutes they just desert and there's nothing I can do to stop it. At this point it's not even fun because I lose troops that took forever to train every turn and can't prevent it.
I was wondering if there was a button to move the camera after being knocked unconscious in battle ?

T: Actually agree with you. We thought the AI would function differently and with a sense of urgency for the player, but due to not having enough time to playtest properly, this siege passivity surprised us as well. The patch, whenever it's done, should bring some fixes to this.

I do not know, but MV said it should be done on 3.0, so I recommend a clean install.

I have played the game and noticed that ctrl+space DID NOT work, for which reason I asked the above question. Maybe there's something wrong with my game though.
Quests could do with some changing. As for as I know I think there's based on time. Each quest has an individual timer before you can do it again so speaking to multiple Lords is pointless. This ranges from 0 for a message quest, you can take anther as soon as the first is finished, to quests which would apparently seem to need weeks before they 'reset'. When you start a new game you can easily pick up 4/5 quests of varying types, but once completed you're often left with only messages to deliver before they reset. It is pretty irritating when trying to bump up your rank early game.
1) Influence gain seems ridiculously slow. 13 rank points and one influence for killing 200 orcs? And that only if I use another patrol as bait to initiate combat first? Was this an intentional change, or a bug in the code?Why not fight them on your own, without allies? You are bound to receive rank point and influence from the nearest friendly faction if you win. (afaik)
2) Has the rate of receiving quests from lords been lowered? My character has gone three weeks without getting a quest from any lord. Anywhere. For the past week in game, I've been teleporting all over the map, trying to find a lord that says something other than 'No I don't have anything for you'.Stuck waiting for a patch because you can't wait for quests to reset?? Most quests have 15-30 day timers, so you can't spam them and there is a feeling of variety. I'm sure you can find other interesting things to do, like.. well.. fighting enemies?

Spotting can help you see their tracks farther IIRC and react accordingly. Unfortunately we could not remove the tracks of rangers, it's hardcoded :(
And a question (back to my game): is there a proven bug that makes everything stop in the war? I mean... in the start, it was ok, many factions were trying several sieges.. cities got razed etc... but now, it seems that nothing more happens, save for some lord that gets defeated. Hotfixes might help some people, or donkeys. Not saving while moving might help as well, who knows? Stationary people might know? Then again, what do they know about movement?

This is incorrect, the Iron Launcher copies the item_modifiers.txt as well.
As we have changed the modifiers, it has to work, otherwise the modifiers wouldn't show ingame. Which they do.

Could someone shed a little light on healing serious wounds for the player and companions? Do they heal over time or are they permanent? Any skills help? IIRC in the .808 version had healers in the capitals, are they gone?

Yes, the city barracks is the equivalent of recruiting from villages in Native.
Main difference from Native is that you have resource points with each faction and troop upkeep comes out of their respective faction's RP. So if you're playing Gondor don't go and recruit a bunch of Rohan soldiers if you haven't built up your Rohan bank account.
I've got a couple questions on faction strength and strategy.
Probably a spoiler but how is faction strength calculated? Is it just raw manpower(and I assume holdings) or does troop level figure into it? For example if I get a bunch of recruits, train them up and then hand them off to a garrison am I increasing my factions strength or just wasting my time?
Currently I'm playing around with Gondor and had the bright idea of doing not much else besides reinforcing Cair Andros. I've currently got the garrison above 500 but now I'm wondering if I'm doing any good or just making things worse. I assume no matter what I do Cair Andros will eventually fall so am I making things worse by packing all those troops in there?
I don't think the number and quality of troops has anything to do with faction strength. Rather, it is faction strength that determines the chance of parties spawning. For example, after a battle, the losing faction loses strength points, the victor gains some points. This is of course despite the fact that a battle will never increase the number of soldiers a faction has.
Apart from winning/losing battles, there is a (I think) constant recovery rate, that increases faction strength by 5 every day or so. A large garrison at Cair Andros will help it withstand the enemy, and this gives you an opportunity to hurt the enemy. Ultimately you have to focus on defeating enemy parties, preferably by helping allies. Don't trust that your faction will do the work for you, the war system is currently somewhat flawed. In my game both Gondor and Mordor are unmatched (9000+) and this is not changing.
You can't make items with certain modifiers, it's random. You can only make them, that there is a chance to find 1. Ex. you have an item Gondor Tower Knight Armor and it has a chance to be Tough, Sturdy or Lordly. You can't make it to be Lordly, all you can do is, to remove the Tough and Sturdy ones and leave only Lordly. Also you can increase the chance to appear as such.
For this you need to modify 2 files - item_kinds1.txt where you need to find the armour and leave only the Lordly factor(easiest to do with some editor - just google it) and item_modifiers where you can set how often Lordly will appear in game, but this will affect all items.
A few random questions about troops, items, groups, and lords:1) Rule of Cool. Maybe they do nothing at all. But they are awesome. :D
1) For Gondor, what does Ithilien Rangers do that Citadel Archers can't do better? Like should I ever get Rangers? They seem outclassed at every skill, at least where archery is concerned.
2) I also noticed after researching the troop tree that the above archers are only using 3 items slots: one sword, one bow, and one pack of arrows. Since they are professional archers after all, I was wondering if someone can tell me how to edit their last empty item slot to put in another pack of arrows.
3) Is there anyway to reassign or assign new groups like in warband? I have two dedicated groups of cavalry: one heavy lancer corps for shock, and another horse archer corps for skirmishing. Unfortunately I can't maneuver them effectively on the battlefield since they are always grouped together, so it really diminishes my tactical effectiveness.
4) I know I can spend influence to get lords to do stuff. But I'm very low on influence, and I'm saving up for nice rewards. I've almost razed every enemy encampment in the southern theater. All that still stands are the Haradrim Camp, Morannon, and Barad Dur. Imrahil is not doing his job, despite both Mordor and Harad being weakened, and gondor at max 9950. There are always like 5 full stack Gondor lords patrolling around Dol Amroth and no one ever thinks to take the fight to the enemy. Rohan is falling to Isengard and I have to leave to help them soon or they'll be dead... Will these lazy bum gondor lords ever be proactive or will I have to spend my hard earned 50 influence to get them to attack one settlement...

Where are my saves? I'm trying to edit my companions so their skills aren't distributed so widely. I guess a better question is where are the files associated with my current save that store my companions' level, attribute, skills, and weapon proficiencies?

That won't affect the save, unfortunately. M&B has this frustrating mechanic - at the the start of each new game it randomizes all the troop stats a little bit, then fixes them for the duration of that game. That way it not only screws the balance somewhat, it also stops any kind of changes to troops file from affecting the ongoing games.
Just recently started playing, have about 15 hours in or so.
I started off as an Erebor dwarf, I've had no issues fighting Khun, Gundabar, and their commanders usually run away. Whenever I fight Isengard, or Mordur, after I fight them it doesn't mention anything about them being defeated in battle. After the battle there's a large list of code saying there's an error with the party ID.
Am I supposed to be ignoring the south until I deal with the north?
Also, what determines damage on bows? Do bows that require power draw do more damage?

Ty for the explanations, knew there was a point in the older version of the game just didn't know if it still existed here. So spent and wavering it is :)
Anyways I got another question: Is faction strength tied in any way to the number or quality of troops factions can produce ? I mean I managed to get Gondor up to strong and reduced Mordor to fair but as soon as I left Imrahil and the lot started loosing quite constantly and negate the advantage that I left them with.
Also what is the deal with the lords that have parties instead of hosts ? Do they ever grow into hosts or just stay at party level ? Is that too unrelated to faction strength ? Cause Faramir's still a 20 men party and its almost 90 days in since i started, same for a number of other Rohan and Gondor lords.

This doesnt work in TLD, I have steam version and had to update manually. Everything else in TLD works ok just not the Speed up travel button "CTRL + Space". I am pushing the buttons correctly after I click on the map to move somewhere. It works in Warband and Fire and Sword so I know how this workds but its not working in this mod TLD..... Is it supposed to work with TLD? if it is how do I fix this or is there another key combo I can use?

My co-captains are supposed to be besieging the Orc Sentry camps and other small places, but they just end up waiting around it and don't attack. How can I get them to initiate the siege battle, rather than just wait outside the place doing nothing?
Ughhh this just isn't working, Iv'e installed the Enhanced version of 1.011 and installed TLD using the auto installer
when I click on IronLauncher everything works out fine up until it says Processing Ini file then it crashes.

I'm so god damn close! If possible can you take a few screenshots of the files in your TLD Folder so I can see if there's anything I'm missing which is possibly messing this up.
Did you try running Iron Launcher as Admin? Did you try the manual installation?
I want to play the 1866 mod as well as The Last Days. I have a Steam copy of Mount and Blade with TLD already installed to the lastest version I believe. Is it possible for me to install a second copy of Mount and Blade elsewhere on my computer for playing 1866?
If not, any other advice?

*Facepalm* I didn't word that question very well. I haven't yet found any info on installing a second copy of Mount & Blade from Steam (I would have to download a second copy) in a different folder in either my Steam directory or elsewhere on the computer. I'm a bit hesitant to use one of the two options below, though I would think the second would work fine and not cause any problems:
-Create a Steam backup of Mount and Blade. I think that should literally make a copy my current Mount and Blade files to some other location. Then I can try deleting the old copy and re-downloading a clean Mount and Blade from Steam.
-The second idea is basically the same thing, just copy the Mount and Blade files myself to another place in my hard drive and download Mount and Blade from Steam again.
I ran it as admin that didn't work, I can't do the manual installation because everything becomes corrupted when I move the files to the module folder and I'm not downloading it again Iv'e done it too many times. The auto-installer works fine from what Iv'e seen all the files install correctly.
By manual install I mean the option 2) in the Manual, which is the only other possible solution if the Iron Launcher doesn't work.
Oh that no doesn't work either it comes up saying Bink video player help.

Error is Mount&blade.exe But I don't know how to fix it. I Downloaded the Enhanced version of M&B So I don't know why its saying Version: 0.7.3.0 unless that's something else.
You're doing something wrong, that's the only thing I can say with certainty. The easiest way to do it right - get rid of everything you have preinstalled. Just download the enhanced version, install it somewhere else and follow what the manual says. The manual installation works for EVERYONE , no matter what computer or operating system. If you do it right.
This fuckin' mod, it's brought me more trouble than my whole life, I'm almost certain it's not working because of the version of the mount&blade.exe since I've looked at the manual more times than my parents faces, unless you know any way of actually updating the version of M&B preferably without having to download any more shit. then thank you for your time sorry I had to bother you soo many times. xDI used enhanced version first didn't work, But I've got one last idea (Oh great I hear you say) If you can could you please upload your mount&blade.exe to mediafire or something so I can download just that. It's the last chance I've got hopefully it works.

You can use it to change any troop you like in any way. Be advised though, that if you're using RCM, you'll most likely distort the balance that is present there. The current version of native hasn't been balanced yet, but it (hopefully) will be in the patch the devs' are planning to release, so you'll probably unbalance it too with haphazard changes.

Well I haven't found any usefulness in the dwarves so far :P, they die so fast, even top tier and aren't as useful as elven infantry which seems to be top dog in middle earth, along with their archers. That's how it should be anyway heh.

In general - if you want something done, do it yourself. Kill the faction you want to go down, bring their strength down. When the strength reaches certain levels, the lords of your faction will become more active towards the enemy.

Is ctrl+space supposed to work as a fast travel? If I press those down it speeds up time but I'm unable to move... Would really speed the game up if I hadn't to wait so long to get from point A to point B....CTRL+space to speed up travel only works in Warband.
You can teleport by pressing ctrl+ mouse button 1 on the map.You need cheatmode on for that.
Hi is there a way to change the size of the Text for alerts/troop upkeep and especially when in battles you get spammed with a wall of text that is hard to see because so many people die. I know i can turn it off but can i make it smaller?

Yeah this happens to me as well. Goblins seem to be a pushover in sieges, and only slightly more difficult on the battlefield with their wargs. I was thinking this might be intentional though as lore-wise, Moria/Gundabad aren't going to be as organised as the other factions.
On the other hand when I was sieging one of the Rhun camps with Thranduil's host, we had a pretty difficult time and despite winning, I think we had more casualties than they did. Rhun's massive swords are brutal.

Another and the safer way to do this is to rename your song to be the same as the original soundtrack of the mod, the replace the files. Which I didn't do it this way.... damn.

A. Insert LOTR Soundtrack CD in the player. Press play. Start game. Play & listen.
...or, if you bought mp3's or stole them like your mother taught you you should...
B. Load LOTR soundtrack mp3's into the player. Press play. Start game. Play & listen.

I am playing as a Dwarf and I am finding this great mod very boring. There is almost never anyone to fight. All of the armies consist of less than 10 guys. There isn't anything to do other than serve as the paper boy for faction leaders and on rare occasion hunt down criminals. I really want to split the skulls of orcs and barbarians alongside a host my Dwarven brethren.
I am Uuruki, I have completed Saruman's Troll quest, but I have no idea how to get one. Help? By that I mean, a soldier-troop balamajinga troll.
They deffo should be in there somewhere, if not, they must have bugged out...
I suppose you are using the latest 3.15 patch? Since you are having trouble defeating them, because they regenerate their strenght, am I right? Just turn it off in strategy tweaks..
Or turn siege requirements off and they'll be marching against you.
One final questions, does allowing NPC character deaths have a much larger affect on faction strength then having deaths turned off? It just occurred to me last night as another option.

The lord's death is a big hit to the faction, because it significantly lowers that faction's capability to field armies, thereby hindering it's ability to defeat enemy armies and siege enemy fortresses.
If you think that's unimportant, try playing with any evil Northern faction or any good Southern faction - you'll pray for those enemy lords to go down. The reason you don't care now is that you're playing the elves, who aren't hard-pressed at all.

So I have been playing this mod for a while and after finishing my second go through. I then tried a couple other mods and this mod is absolutely amazing to look at in comparison as well as also being incredibly more polished (tasks, chat box's). Is there any other mods people play that look as good and feel as polished? i Played the mount and blade: warband blood in the west, another lotr mod. Not trying to put shit on those modders but they have probably taken to big of a task, It just feels to chunky and erratic.

So after my admittedly stupid complaint I was told to read the manual but in all honesty, I'm still stumped. With RP prices so high for the Imladris Elves and with quests coming rarely and awarding little, I'm not sure how to go from here. I received a quest from Rivendell's Supply Master to fetch some scrap metal, which I presume I get from killing Orc-folk or Goblins, but I've so far killed several groups of Uruk-Hai and wild Orcs/Goblins yet I've found nothing. And again, these quests only earn me 100 or so RP. Selling scrap metal, which apparently is meant to quickly raise your RP, doesn't raise it at all. Common scrap metal sells for a dozen or two RS, rarer ones only above 100. Again, with prices like 1,000 for arrows or gloves, this doesn't seem possible. I'm able to upkeep and recruit many well-trained soldiers for less than half the cost of a pair of gloves. Am I missing something here? Did I install the mod wrong? I'm using 3.1 with the 3.5 beta patch.

Rivendell is a difficult faction to play, probably one of the toughest, if not THE toughest. Their lack of settlements and lords is the cause, mainly. Yes, this would've been handled, if we had more time and coders on our hands for longer. Sadly, we didn't.

About Gondor now... the secondary troop trees (Lamedon, Pinnath Gelin, Pelargir, etc) seems useless too compared to the normal troop tree... They can't go over level 30 while the normal troops can go to level 40.
The Noldor use a unique custom bow that can used on horseback. It's not avaible to the player for unkown reasons.. maybe they feared an elven archer on horse back would be too much of an op character ;P?
Any tips for starting the game? I mean I'm at day one and I'm having troubles getting recruits. I couldn't fight all those orcs all by myself ( flatfooted). Any tips or advice would help.

Any tips for starting the game?The "Deliver Message" quest has the highest ratio of influence to xp of any quest you can reliably get before the war begins. This is important because your first goal should be (if you're on the good guys' side) to recruit Faniul from Dale as your medic and Luevana from Mirkwood as your tracker (I also use her as my tactician.)

I don't care much for playing the "evil" side, so I really enjoy playing Rohan at the beginning. In fact, just a couple of days ago I started a new game. From the very first day of the war a siege was opened on West Emnet. Gotta love it!
The only detriment would be that you have to store all your excess troops and prisoners at Edoras. Minas Tirith is so much better for that! Anyway, I found the Gondorians to be too easy, but maybe you'll find it differently than me?

If all of the evil factions are <1000 and you're at 6930, then I think something would have to go very wrong for you to lose - especially if you've still got the northern factions to help you out. Gondor might fall, but you can still win the war.
Well, the problem is that Gondor can't do much in its current situation. So it is pretty much stalemate. :/

Thank you for the previous reply. I have another question. Is it common for my weapon proficiencies to decrease? For example, I had my archer proficiency at around 270. I would save the game, close the game, but when I load the game, it has dropped around 70 to 200. Im not sure what is happening.
If its not too much of a spoiler how likely are u to get Berserker trait? Im fighting completely naked except for 2 handed axe for 50 days, had a lo of bttles but dont seem to get any traits. (red somewhere that u need ironflesh? my ironflesh is 6) (by the way, im a dwarf if i has anything to do with that)
Haha I've been up to 400+ days with an elf character that led the infantry with his two hander and slaughtered 30/40+ orcs/uruks each time and he didn't get a berserker trait, only traits he had were Foe Hammer, which I received one time while I was resting.. and elf friend.

I'm having an interesting time with this idea. All of the northern factions and Rohan have set up shop in Gondor to help them defeat the evil meanies. None of the factions other than Rohan are willing to give me missions. Everyone says they don't have time for me, including Gondor which lost a bunch of cities in my absence.
I thought you would always be able to get missions...is there a trigger for this?

Put em in the game using troop editor, they are so rare because of a bug, it's not intentional.
How often do named characters die?
I know its not bugged since I saw it happen 2-3 times, but I whacked the same guy 3-4 times with my sword and he keeps escaping.

In BFME2, Galadriel is summonable when you get the one ring, she has a tornado as her power. And in the campaign after you siege Dol Guldur she destroys it with a cleansing tornado. I don't know if this is correct by the book, but I recall Dol Guldur being cleansed by the elves or something like that..

To meet ents as a good guy you have to ask ppl about rumors. In BFME 2 Galadriel was a fucking powerhouse you needed ring and 10 000 RSP. She also summoned tornado in book, and Sauron was afraid to launch an invasion against lothlorien becuse of her being there.

I've got a problem. When I was playing MB TLD the game crashed during travelling through global map. From now on every time I try to restore saved game it crashes with error "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way". I've tried to change "last_savegame_backup" but this savegame is over 100 game-days back :/ Is there anything I can do to restore the last savegame?

I seem to have lost my horse. For example, I go through the cities without a horse now, but in battle, I still have my horse. The horse is still in equipped too.I can actually help with this one: different cities treat your horse differently.

This is possibly dependent on each specific computer, some people get it bad, some don't at all. Save multiple saves, you have the option. Save in towns. -Merlkir

I'm assuming you're talking about the battles? Just get battlesizer. Then you can enjoy huge battles.
I have not read every post in this thread, but I have come across a few problems. The first of which, is script. When I talk to possible companions, all the dialog is is "npc backstory1" and this is what all the other are similar to, and the same for all companions. Help on this would be appreciated.
The other problem is crashes. The game crashes every 20-30 minutes, in both small scale battles, large scale, and even on the campaign map. When it crashes in-battle the error message usually states "Unable to restore vertex buffer". This doesn't happen in any other of my mods, or on native.
Is there anything in Fangorn Forest for good characters?

I am playing TLD version 3.2 with the last dev patch.
Two things has happened to me, which seems weird:
1) I forgot to switch off companion injuries at the beginning. Ulfas, my companion, got leg injury that reduced his skills. It 40+ days so far and the injury has not healed. Should it heal, or is it permanent? I switched the companion injuries off after realising this. Maybe thats the reason it do not go away?
That's probably it, sometimes injuries take a long time to heal anyway though.
2) War goes well for Rohan so far. But at the beginning, they were badly mauled. Two of our lords, namely Eomer and Theoden lost a battle and their retinue was reduced to very small number of men. And it seems their retinue does not replenish. Eomer has 15 men and Theoden now 7. This number does not raise even if they are resting in towns. Theoden even goes outside and laid siege alone with his 15 men (then). He was mauled again btw. Maybe something is wrong or should I replenish their soldiers somehow?
He went and besieged a outpost with only 15 men? I've been trying to fix that bug for sometime now.
Are you guys still working on this mod? Or have you guys moved on?

After Eomer was slain by Dunlendings I went to his Burial Mound and swore the Oath of Vengeance. I then went on a combat spree and proceeded to wipe out ALL the Dunlending forces in Rohan. And I mean ALL. So I run out of Dunlendings to kill and do some Escort Caravan quests and get a message saying I failed to keep my Oath. Eh?!? How can I keep the oath when I killed all the Dunlendings...no more to kill, so why am I now an "Oathbreaker"!??! CAN you complete this quest?!?!
You can complete the quest, yes. You need to kill lots and lots of enemies of the specific faction. Also, ask questions in the questions thread.

Can you ever recover from failing this quest? In this instance, I had killed ALL the Dunlendings possible, except for a around 100 and their Chief who wouldn't leave the Dunlending Camp. None left to slay, yet the quest wouldn't complete. So after hunting for more (none left except the camp!), I went off to do more quests, and then got a message that the character is now an Oathbreaker.
Is there a way to get that removed, or any way to change it?
Is the "300 Days" true? If it is, hasn't it been fixed yet?

Do you mean the ~300 days save corruption? If so, the 3.2 patch allows players to choose the amount of parties. Gallant (http://mbx.streetofeyes.com/index.php/topic,2837.msg65216.html#msg65216) finished the game in 500 days, with max parties at 800.

Only one person is sieging it and he only has 13 troops no one goes to help him and he just stands outside it all the time. He never attacks or does anything else also all of Morias generals have disappeared they didn't die either. So the guy with only 13 soldiers is never gonna get defeated because there is no one around to kill him so his siege will never end since he will never attack or end the siege on Moria what do I do?
What should I do to wipe out Isengard? I've helped conquer the rest of the map but Isen, remains unsiegable. Also it's messing up when the northern "good" factions head south. They just stand around north of the rohan area and then do nothing for the remainder of the game. This is after the isen. orc outposts have been conquered. By default the AI generally won't start launching sieges until an enemy faction strength is below 2000. The siege relaxation rate is added to the base value for each level your character has above 10. i.e. A level 12 character and relaxation of 100 means the AI will siege when an enemy faction drops below 2200(base of 2000 + 100 for each level over 10). Did that make sense?
I don't know if this was asked before, I tried to read all the questions, but i failed, sorry :(. I would like to know more about the ,,special items". Can anyone name all of them, and write about what they are, what they do etc? I spent many influents point on them, and most of the times i just get a jewellery which increased my strength with 1 point instead of getting a cool sword or anything. So it would be much easier to choose if i knew more about them. :)
Another question: I have an option ,,use an object", and after clicking on it, i can do nothing. What objects can i use here?

I understand that feeling. ;) It's been a matter of ongoing discussion in the past, browse the forum and you'll find plenty on the topic, both in regards to lore and balance. The dev team just does not seem to have the same spread of opinions as others here, judging from their past responses, so I think it would be fair to infer from this that there is effectively a bias.
During my support work as a mod dev, I thought of the mod suggestion thread as a way for the fans to let off steam ("circlejerk" if you are really cynical). There's so much crap in such threads that you are eventually going to regret developing a game for people who post that, if you spend too much time reading and responding there.
However, devs take notice if there is a recurring theme to some types of suggestions and take them more seriously. But they mostly do what they wanted to do in the first place.
Well forgive me for not agreeing with your interpretation of the books, but when I see a sub-elite Rivendell cavalry unit, surrounded by 13 large orcs and stuck against a tree - unable to move, barely flinching from the continuous blows, slowly chopping them down one by one, and eventually winning and riding away after *more than 30 tedious seconds*... I also feel the balance, and whoever designed it, can very much be called biased. :P

Balance doesn't mean orcs will be as powerful as elves, they simply aren't. We're not anti-anything, I like orcs.
Horse archers are explicitly mentioned in the book.
If a factions Advanced camp gets destroyed will they stop sending troops to the area?
Rohans advance camp in Gondor is under assault by about 800 Mordor troops (TEN Olog Hai :o)...it will cost me nearly all of my elite troops to help defend it....is it worth it? Or will they just set up a new one?
Too late! I bit the bullet and went for an auto-calc defense.
The advance camp siege map it seems, is rather bugged when you fight it in person. In that after killing the first wave of melee troops the defenders trickle out from the defenses into the open plain to attack the enemy archers...where they get jumped and slaughtered when the next wave spawns.
Anyway, after a few waves of auto calc I got a message saying I had not defeated the enemy but had forced them to retreat. So all in all, it worked out well for me in the end.

yea pretty much but the only thing diff is that i downloaded it from moddb. and i also used 7-zip file manger to extract the files...

In the most recent patch which I have the companions requires lots of influence to recruit rather than resource points, but someone did make a fix to switch it back to resource points, i cut and paste from another part of this forum where I for it from:
Companion recruitment with resource points instead of influence mini-mod - this submod changes companion recruitment to be priced in resource points instead of influence. Influence prices are very steep in current TLD version and companions are hard to recruit.

I wasn't sure it was worth downloading since I haven't been playing very much and wasn't sure if I wanted to start over.
someone please help me i passed day 244 on my gondor campaign and now when i go to load it it doesnt load anymore it just give an error message and exits the game but i load my other campaigns and they work fine! pleasee help

Hello, I just had a question concerning movement on the global map.
When traversing the global map what key combination is used to make your avatar character move from one point to another faster. In Warband I know it's the control + space keys but of course in TLD mod the space key pauses the action. I apologize if this has been asked before and I missed the thread. I used to know the key combo myself but it's been a little bit since I have played TLD and have since forgotten. Any help would be appreciated.

When you encounter a crash-prone save, try copy and rename the "last_savegame_backup.sav" to e.g. sg01.sav in MB saves folder, and continue playing with very little in-game time lost.

No, Cpp knows what he's talking about. Your save is corrupted. Try the backup save, if that does the same crash, your campaign is lost.
What should be my party speed while on horseback, and with no troops? (By day, and not in the woods)
Because actually my party speed is 5 in that conditions, and I don't know if that's fine or not... I thought it had to be about 10 in this conditions.
I posted it in the bug section at first, but this doesn't seem to be a bug, so I don't know how to fix it.
It seems low indeed. It depends on the type of horse you have, how much you carry (I think), your pathfinding skill (again, I think) and terrain. You may actually be in the woods, even if you don't see many trees around. The terrain borders are often a bit unclear.

- my module says it`s TLD 3.1, but I know I installed some fixes over it. Can I somehow check the true ver. I have?
- if not can I just overwrite it with available updates and which ones?

In theory the statue in the main menu should say "3.2" if you have the beta patch installed, but there are ways to screw that up. So, no, no good ways to know for sure.
Follow up question, what is the easiest way to get into a siege scene to edit it?Swap it with one of the default battle scenes and access it via the quick battles / make own scene menu. Problem is you won't be able to test it properly.

Why does the Umbar pikemen line change so drastically? I was hoping to kick ass swiss pikemen style and at the end I got "night raiders" what the hell are those? No idea that it does. Nobody really plays the Corsairs and I've never bothered recruiting them as an orc, so an inconsistency might've slipped unnoticed.
Whats the difference between the BN champion and assasin? Errr.. Vota would know.
Whats the difference between the different types of orcs? specially the morgul and regular mordor ones. Minor stat and equip differences I'd say. Also orcs give you that party size bonus while uruks don't.
And jesus christ the dunlanders are worse than orcs (ok that was not a question). Noooo, not really. At least their top troops are pretty hardcore. The low tiers suck though, true. Hey, they're dirty hillmen.

Well this is what I've tried, but unfortunately Isengard always regains it's strength to about 1200, then some war party comes out, I kill it, Isengard is left with about 1125 strength, it regains... Repeat forever.

Mablung on the other hand, an expert archer, follows infantry orders regardless of equipment. I've noticed such oddities on the evil side too (Durgash following archer orders, even if you equip him as infantry). Am I missing something?.

I'm having trouble with "guardian" parties (those parties that mordor, mirkwood elves and isengard spawn as their last defense). Allied lords or troops will not engage them nor the other way around. They will walk around each other as if they were allies. So the problem is trying to kill 600+ elite isengard troops with 80 of my rohirrim. I remember everyone attacking mordor guardian party as soon as they spawned, but no lord ever dares to attack isengard or mirkwood guardian party.
Your computer is good enough. What you should've done was (in this order):
- read the Optimization thread.
- install the Enhanced version of Mount and Blade (perhaps you have)
- do the LAA fix
- install TLD properly. Headless characters in DX9 sounds like a bad install of something rather than the mod not working with your computer.
(warning: This option is only for reasonably able computer users!! If you're not sure how, there's a thread about it somewhere. Search for that. ) - If you have Win7 and enhanced version (M&B.exe 2.0Mb in size) try set it as "Large Address Aware". E.g. by using CFF explorer to edit exe under 'File Header>Characteristics>click here> and check "app can handle >2gb address space", (hat tip Barf)"

So it is written that the Player cannot initiate sieges on his own. Then the question is - do I need to put points into my engineering skills, or it'll be simply useless?
If it is completely useless skill, then it'll be good if it was disabled at all.
Good point. We have some ideas for its usage later, but now engeneering is completely useless, yes.

I would like to know how to have more than 150 men in one battle. I have gone to the gameplay tweaks menu, and set it to 780 per battle. But, in the battles I only have 150 total per battle.

I must say, that Gondor and Rohan are eliminated: Rohan was defeated after destruction of Edoras, Gondor - after destruction of Minas Tirith (Minas Tirith was destroyed after about month of siege).
IMHO, something must be done with sieges - game becomes very tedious in such situations.

Khm, I'm playing for dwarves now, and there aren't such problems with light factions. Oh nope, actually, there IS: King Thranduil has besieged Morannon(!) in quite the same conditions with same results. But I gave him reinforcement - 140 soldiers for him and for every of his general (they didn't have maximum troops). Morannon was captured and destroyed after that (there were battle ~750 elves against ~1000 orcs of Morannon). So I've not seen any Mordor Legions - Mordor was defeated after destruction of Morannon.
Other evil factions were defeated without any problem (Isengard collapsed after defeating of Saruman's Legion).

I got the Oathbreaker trait for failing the kill enough Gundabad armies. The funny thing is though, I helped to raze two outposts, assisted in killing two Gundabad armies and destroyed one on my own. Are there a specific set of conditions that I need to fulfill?
Also, will Oathbreaker wear off? Because it's rather frustrating that I did so much and still got the bad trait.
uhm, was it intentional for some skies in battle to be something like half-morning and half-evening? i notice this especially in battles near the gondor-mordor border. the sky is exactly split in half with a bright and dark side. same thing when i climb to the top level of minas tirith and look around. is this normal?

where "2" is the multiplier of rank and influence points from quests and battles. If you set it "1", it will be like in original game. Of cause, you can set it higher than "2".

I changed the number in red to 1.5, and I was rank 5 with gondor when I made the change. One battle later, I was rank 11 and had about a hundred more influence. 4-6 battles after that, I was rank 31. That made the game ridiculously easy, because nowOf cause you must enter an integer value! Khm... I couldn't even imagine that it is possible to set fractional numbers in M&B txt-files :o.

Such beasts spawn exactly at the Town/Village the Lord told you they're around, always. Sometimes it's just one, but the higher your level and/or party, the more trolls you'll find - so far, I've engaged 3 wild trolls at the same time.
Now, you'll think these creatures would be slow, as in the battlefield, but they are not; hell, they reach a velocity of 6.5-7 in open fields! And that's not all: they run from you as soon as they see you, so it's kind of hard to catch up.
Anyway, if the quest hasn't been cancelled, they're still around. Where? The Ainur only know! As I said above, the trolls run from you, yes, but also from any other party, such as Scouts or Foragers. I've seen wild trolls cross the entire map running either from me or anybody else! (Well, not the whole map but... you get the idea, right?)
Keep looking around. If you're lucky, some friendly party will engage them; if so, join the fray, kill the trolls and you'll be completing the quest in no time.
Or if you dont have the patience, use cheats again and look carefully for them - their respective blue is quite similar to the blue given to Imladris, so you might have confused them or lost them in a thick forest.

Has anyone had any problems defeating Isengard on 3.23 (with Rohan alone). We've defeated the Dunlendings and all Isengard camps and they're down to Isengard alone with Theoden has problems sieging. The requirements are up to <3600 and Isengard sit weakened on 1600.I suppose you've tried to stay right outside the Tower of Orthanc and killed every Isengard party that ventured out?
Elsewhere the war is progressing way more than it ever did in previous versions yet this seems similar to when I've played Rohan before. The problem as it seems to me a bit like Theoden refuses to siege unless he has his full complement of troops in his personal host (i.e 200+). Because no Isengard hosts sally out there's no real way for him to ever be defeated and thus regenerate back at Edoras. He's sat on around 150 men (too low to siege yet too high to go and rest it seems) and just patrols around Edoras/Westfold/Hornburg followed by all of the Rohan lords.

He summoned me, and the rest of the lords, but stayed outside the White City for, exactly, three months. The only opposition we encountered was Prince Imrahil and his 14 Swordmasters -over and over again- until Mog canceled the siege and went home. Soon thereafter he besieged again, and Gondor was gone, though.

I read somewhere, here in the FAQ, that to defeat Isengard you must bring their numbers to almost 0. The strategy of camping outside and not letting anything go out seemed to work.
Have you tried reinforcing Théoden's party by yourself?
Get some Rohirrim Youths, train them so they become experienced troops, and then give them to the King.

A simple question: I've got the quest from Sarumann to capture a troll, but every time I defeat one outside Troll cave, and I proceed to inspect the troll, I only get the option to kill it, not capture it. I even bought a hammer, thinking that I had to hit it in the head with a blunt weapon :green: I think I saw in an earlier post that you need a high level of surgery? Is that it? Cuz I don't want to spend my skillpoints on something one of my future companions will have an abundance off, and I'm running out of time in the quest!

Just another quick question (sorry about this): I'm playing as an Uruk-Hai, i'm rank 5 and I haven't been able too recruit heroes... My game version is a little bit different tho, like every greeting from lords etc are like this: " Greetings Isengard strength rank 3" Instad of saying the actual rank, like sergeant or whatever. After I join in on a battle with my allies, the other Uruk leaders will say to me" Upstanding battle greeting". So much of the text that i get is the actually script, not the actual dialogue. This hasn't been a problem at all during my gameplay, but everytime I want to recruit either Durgash(Isengard) or Gulm(Uruk-Hai river camp) Their dialogue is like this "Npcsignup response" and "Npcresponse payment", wich I gather is the compensation for joining me, but my dude always says "Well, there's little I can do then". I KNOW i'm able to recrit them, because they tell me at the beginning of the dialogue that they are happy too see that i'm str rank 5 and ready to join me.
My rank is high enough, I have enough room in my party, lots of influence points and resource points. What do these guys want?

I only have a little issue with companions, (by the way i only tryed with Rohan ones);
When i talk to them, sometimes appears thinks like this "str npc4 backstory later" or "str npc4 payment". By the way i can understand this are some lost text. But the most serious problem is, i can't hire them.
For example, i'm rank 4 in Rohan, and i have 20k Res.Pts. but when i try to hire Galmyne, my character only say; "Well, there's little i can do then" and nothing happens.

I am in day ~115, the dunlendings have 530 strength and Isengard has around 2K, so both are way below the actual siege requierment.
Point is, that lazy ass king Theoden barely initiates sieges anywhere and when he does, he is alone with 15 soldiers and all the other lords
are nowhere to be found
I have already tried searching the forums for this problem and the only solution I found was to reinforce him somehow, but I don't seem to have the dialogue option for that when I talk to him.
Although the other lords do have that dialogue option available, I thought it might be my rank..
Anyways, I am completely at large here and looking forward to an answer.
Thanks for the response, I just played on a little and he did initiate a siege recently on the dunlander camp. Problem is, he did it alone. With 10 men, on which he had been stuck for like 50 days and counting and the other lords where nowhere to be found.
So is this normal? Should I just wait untill he gets more men magically?

TLD options -in the Actions menu- and change the maximum number of parties in the 'Gameplay Tweaks -> Compatibility Tweaks' path. I set it on 700, and I've never had a crash nor a corrupted save - in fact, I've played over 400 days without any trouble.I set it 750 and won the game on ~450 day, so 750 is safe too :).

When launching the game, click on 'Configure'. The third tab should be 'Game' - there, check the 'Enable Cheats' option.

Either if you start a new game or load a saved one, once you are on the map just press 'Ctrl + T'. This makes every party on the map visible. WARNING: This may cause extreme lag - to put everything back to normal, press 'Ctrl + T' again.

I Keep downloading TLD 3.23, but when I download it, there is no data folder. Please can someone help!Corrupted download, I'd say. Try clearing your cache and/or from a different browser.
I have the same problem. I try to launch from Ironlauncher but an error message comes up and it says ''We cannot find the file binkplay.exe'' (Sorry for my bad translation, i'm Swedish). I then took the file binkplay.exe and placed it in the data folder, i then press the Ironlauncher and Another error message comes up saying that bink has an error opening the file. I placed the binkplay.exe in the TMD again, and it has the same error ''Cannot find the file''. But the ''Mount and blade'' game windows still pops up. So i choose TLD when you're asked to choose modules. I then get to a loading screen were the title ''The last Days Of the third age'' then theres a background Picture, and a loading screen at the bottom. Above the loading screen is text, which is blurry. When the loading screen is done loading, i get an error and it crashes. When the error pops up it says ''RGL Error - Get_shader failed for: windy_flora If anyone could help me, please do it.the game crashes when its loading and i turned down the textures.....
Did you follow the instruction and load from IronLauncher or copy the game files over?
yea pretty much but the only thing diff is that i downloaded it from moddb. and i also used 7-zip file manger to extract the files...
yes i did use iron launcher. and also the words are all blurry........

I suppose you are mistaken :). Renaming (from "Engineer" to "Crafting") and changing description of this skill was done exactly in the newest "coldfix". Furthermore, I also noticed added strings about upgrading of equipment in the "menus.txt" file.How do you use the new Crafting (Engineer) skill?

i think that's the description from native. i don't think it does anything in tld unless i'm mistaken.

Yes, this is a new skill added to TLD. This feature is about only 10% complete, so it is disabled until further notice. There are plans to put this new skill to use though. :)
Don't buy a lame horse, you will not be able to use it in battles at all.
1. Any character should do. It's how you pick your battles that makes a difference. Start with bands of tribal orcs, where there's 2-4 of them, you can easily beat those. Take some message delivery or find food or find scraps missions from lords or town elders to get some starting money. Then start building your army. So far you're the only person ever (out of millions of downloads we've had) that complained they can't win a single battle.
2. Don't think anyone starts mounted, but a lame horse or warg is cheap to buy.
3. For uninstalling, just delete TLD files. If you still have trouble, reinstall M&B. If you still have trouble, play something else.
4. Don't call modders assholes (on ModDB or anywhere else) when your rude attitude doesn't get you the answer you wanted.
5. Read manuals, FAQs and follow instructions, like on this forum written in big letters "TLD 3.23 FAQ & Ask any other questions here! DON'T START A NEW TOPIC. ASK HERE!"
Thanks for the tips, I'll try them. On the last two, he kind of was being an asshole. I mean, there was unnecessary Caps Lock, the fact that he was putting them in every reply, and the way he was typing them up.

Well yes, but they are useless for a very long time. You can keep more money to yourself to buy a light horse sooner. It's not really a tip for beginners, since a beginner will need an immediate boost to his power. Besides, there is the fact that you need one of the healing skills to make the horse recover sooner. Without any skill it takes a very long time.Don't buy a lame horse, you will not be able to use it in battles at all.
Let's see, how long have you played the game? Triglav's suggestion is probably one of the best. Remember that lame horses heal after a while...
