The current version of mount and blade is 1.011. If you want to install the older .808 to play TLD just install into a different directory and then install the mod to the .808 version. Features:
- Strategic war system with faction elimination. As the power of a faction wanes they get fewer troops and eventually risk falling into ruin. Faction strength can be recovered through time or a great victory over the enemy. If Rohan and Gondor fall, Isengard and Mordor declare war on each other.
- 13 factions tracked in the war. You can belong to one of four major factions.
- Great Hosts from six factions that actively pursue the war. Their behavior will change depending on the war results.
- Faction influence system. You gain influence based on rank and battlefield success.
1) Spend influence to order allied armies in the field..
2) To gain access to rewards from the armory
3) To have missions cancelled.
4) To recruit experienced units from the lords.
5) To recruit the lords or camp captains themselves.
- Faction morale system keyed to events, faction strength and faction elan.

FAQ
Q: Where is the movie plate armor?
A: This is a book mod and there is no reference to medieval plate armor in the book.
Q: Lag! Laggy Lag Lag!?!? Motherlagger!!!
A: Two solutions. Lower your desktop resolution (m&b uses this. try 1024) and/or lower the texture resolution in the m&b options menu. Ill put out a low-res texture pack at some point and link it here. I dont know if this will be any different than lowering it with the menu. Might be for the initial load-up at least though I dont know. (orc head texture reduction: http://mbx.streetofeyes.com/index.php?topic=916.0). The next version (2.5) will use some of the LOD techniques from m&b .890 which should greatly improve performance.
Q: Elf towns cause my computer to lag or crash, what to do?
A: Dont visit them. :lol: They were made too large (tree-wise) for some computers to handle. In future Ill shrink them but for now you'd best just avoid them if you have trouble.
Q: I want/need/require sieges!
A: Sieges are coming to mount and blade, which has been clear for for some time now. Almost every mod will have sieges in future as Armagan is going to hand it to us. I dont see a reason to even bother with something that Armagan will provide more support for both at the .exe level and the scripting level. It will then be easy to make riffs on Armagan's system after I get a look at it and see if sieges will fit into a new war system
Q: Why is it so difficult to play the elven faction compared to rohan or gondor?
A: Its not fully developed yet and will just be a more difficult faction to play for now.
Q: Why are the orcs so powerful?
A: Just my call for balance purposes. If you disagree with my choices there are options with the old man to change the weapon skill levels and powerstrike/toughness of orcs or other troops. You'll find a wide range of options there to balance the mod to suit your tastes.
Q: I'd like to help. What can I do?
A: The number one need is for modellers, texturers and or voice work. There are some organizational things that could be done as well. Victory Conditions:
Gondor: Isengard, Easterlings, Corsairs, Dunlendings, Haradrim, Dol Guldur and Moria fallen. Morder spent and wavering

--total military victory against mordor can only be achieved when all 4 mordor legions are activated in the options menu at the brigand fort. All 4 legions must be destroyed before mordor can fall. The total victory message will then be available when all other conditions are met. Dol Guldur must fall before Mordor as well.
General troop information:
Gondor: Excellent infantry, some cavalry, good archers.
Rohan: Excellent cavalry, some infantry.
Lothlorien: Medium infantry and excellent archers.
Mirkwood: Light infantry and excellent archers.
Rivendell: Elven heavy infantry doubling as archers, various dunedain units.
Mordor: All infantry and poor archers.
Haradrim: Good light cavalry, very good archers and some horse archers
Corsairs: Light infantry, crossbow troops, very small cavalry branch
Easterlings: Poor light cav, Good heavy cav, throwing missiles only
Isengard: Mostly infantry, decent archers, some pikes and warg riders.
Dunlendings: Mostly infantry, no missiles, decent horse branch
Dol Guldur: Mordor Infantry, Olog-hai trolls
Moria: Disorganized infantry, cave trolls, warg riders.
Troop tier information:
--Tiers are upgrade levels. So tier-1 is lowest gondor youth and tier-6 would be a tower knight of minas tirith.
--Orcs start at tier-2 and move up to tier-5
--Normal men start at tier-1 and move up to tier-5
--Gondor/Rohan men start at tier-1 and move up to tier-6
--Gondorian feudal types start at tier-3 and move up to tier-5
--Dunedain start at tier-3 and move up to tier-7

Color key:
Yellow = Melee infantry line.
Light Blue = Melee infantry with chance of some missiles.
Blue = Missile infantry line. (rangers, assassins, pit fighters and orc trackers are better at melee than missile)
Dark Blue = Dedicated missile line. Increased archery, poor melee, knife armed. (mirkwood archer, harad foot archer, blackroot vale)
Gray = Mounted units.
Green = Melee elites with light armor. 20 point melee bonus and athletics bonus.*
Red = Melee elites with no armor. 40 point melee bonus and athletics, iron_skin bonus**
* Some light and unarmored elite infantry move faster on the worldmap. (Rangers, some Uruk-hai).
** Some red elites (variag gladiators, pitfighters, berserkers, wolf-warriors) have battle-fury which affords limited regeneration.

Formation basics:
"Form the Line" orders your disciplined infantry into a long line, where they will hold.
"Form Ranks" orders your disciplined infantry into a box formation, where they will hold.
"Fall Back" order will work with all units and sends them back to your baggage/flag.
"Break Ranks" cancels all formations.
Formations require that the units being ordered be given only the standard "charge" order. If you give them standard hold or follow orders they will ignore the modded formation orders. They are for melee infantry only though archers without ammunition and dismounted cavalry will obey a "fall back" order.
Miscellaneous tips:
--The old man at the brigand fort will let you change many game options for the first day only. This includes strategy script changes and npc hero wound/death chances, troop skill modification and other gameplay modifications.
--Faction strength has the following ratings:
--Unmatched (mordor start)
--Very Strong (isengard start)
--Strong (default start for the rest)
--Weakened (rivendell and moria start)
--Spent and Wavering
--Fallen or Withdrawn
--The war will begin before you hit level 10, its based on level and will be adjustable from v2.2.1 foward.
--Check the state of the war and the health of various factions by talking to the lords.
--Once you have a faction down to spent and wavering, eliminate their largest units. They should fall.
--Factions can recover over time or rally if the enemy is dealt a serious blow.
--Mordor cannot be reduced beyond spent and wavering. Getting them to that level is one of the conditions for victory for the free peoples or Isengard.
--The starting position for a faction is their strongest position and is the most difficult one to reduce.
--You can modify the starting strengths by talking to the old man at the brigand fort on the first day.
--There is no recovery from fallen/withdrawn but an occasional (rare) remant army may spawn.
--Orders to allied armies last 24 hours, except 'travel to' which lasts for 48 or until they arrive at their destination.
--You can only have one set of a given order active at a time. One follow, one travel_to, one hold.
--Orders to your own heroes dont count toward your orders limit but you can only have one "travel to" order for a hero active at at time.
--uruk archers of isengard are better than orc archers of mordor. As in the book, the uruk-hai use man-sized bows. The orcs dont get better than short bows.
--Neither orcs nor uruks are captured. They are assumed to be finished off after the battle.
--gondor feudal units start at tier-3 but only advance to tier-5. They have light armor and are experienced filler units in general.
--elven units can only be recruited with faction influence points from the elven leaders.
--elven units cannot be captured. They are assumed to be finished off after the battle. Elven leaders can be captured though.
--elven units can become the most powerful troops in the game (tier-8/level 40+) if you can keep them alive
--trolls can only be recruited with faction influence points from the leaders of dol guldur (olog_hai) or moria (cave trolls)
--trolls cannot be captured. They are assumed to be finished off after the battle.
--some armies of dol guldur and moria contain a few trolls. Mordor's southern armies dont have them at the moment.
--warg riders can be upgraded into from isengard or moria units. You can only purchase wargs to ride at moria at the moment.
--Active items will only grant abilities when wielded on the worldmap. Passive items will grant abilities when you own them and enter the worldmap (might need to move around a bit for it to kick in).
--Enchanted weapons that affect the same attributes will only allow one of that type to provide a benefit at a time.
--Enchanted weapons or equipable items will only give/take abilities when wielded or put away on the worldmap. Once in combat those abilities wont change even if you put the items into your storage box. After combat it will update again.
--There are two hero npcs in each capital. You can recruit one at the start, you get the other later. You can also recruit one hero in the allied capital.
--All of the lords of towns and camps (cept the 4 faction "leaders") are also recruitable heroes, they are very powerful but require spending faction points. You cant hire them or see the option until you have enough points.
--Heroes can become wounded if you get ko'd in combat (its an additional penalty)
--All wounds heal over time. Its pretty random when but the rate can be accelerated by visiting the healer at Morannon, Edoras, Isengard or Minas Tirith.
--Once wounded in combat (with a major wound) it becomes possible for an npc hero to die in combat. More wounds=greater chance.
--You can change the wound chances, healing chances and turn on/off the chance of death at the old man at the brigand fort.
-- You can ask your heroes how they are feeling when you talk to them and they will notify you of any wounds. There are healers in the "capitals" that will accelerate healing a bit but it can still take a while if you are unlucky. If your heroes get badly wounded they can get killed in combat, even if in the rear at the moment. Best to get them healed at the healer or rest at an inn for awhile.
--Until you hit captain rank, you can only visit the healer once a week. More visits will cost faction points. The healer heals all standard damage for your company as well.
--Orcs, Uruk, Uruk-hai, Trolls, Elves, Goblins and Tribal orcs cannot be taken prisoner. They are finished off after a battle. Some elven leaders may be captured though.

A low-res orc texture pack for Stefano's TLD orcs. For TLD v2.4 but should work with any 2.4.x version. Might improve your performance if you have a lower-end rig.

All of the governors are able to be recruited for 150-200(?) influence points. So that would be your 40 heroes.(Note this is for the governor type guys. Faction leaders can't be recruited.)

Wel'll have lots of new and reworked textures (armor, shields, etc.), several new models (armors, shields, weapons, helms, etc.), probably a new troll model, new map icons, some new interiors, and I don't know if AW wants to talk about the other stuff. :P

Make sure you don't have McAffee or Norton on, for some reason they block the downloads on that site.

Also they block download managers. Disable any download managers before attempting the download. (There's a post about that at the top of the home page, but most people miss it.)

Seems unlikely that IP origin has much to do with it ... the rest of us are in just as unlikely of places. (I'm in China.) Haven't heard any other reports of problems because of place of origin.

Just go to any leader of any town of your faction and make a request for experienced troops. After the troop name you'll see i.e. 10-xx. xx will be the amount of faction points you have. Maybe there's an easier way, but that's the fastest way I know of.

HEY guys I'm new to these forums but I read most of the forums from the taleworlds website, from when the game was updated for .751, and I have been playing The Last Days for quite some time and I gotta say this is a beautiful Game and im lovin it. Ancient Wanker and the team have done a Fantastic job on this modulation keep up the awesome work guys.
Curious though, one question, I saw the new screenshots and how his character was in Minas Tirith,
just wanted to know if any of the major battles will be held in 2.4 or if you can have battles in the majority of the locations (inside the cities) like Helms Deep, Minas Tirith, Lothlorien, Black Gate ect.

Lame. I mean, sure, 50 men against 100 isnt exactly a seige, but still. 1066 did it.

There are some other game issues here that would be highly unbalancing if towns could be taken/burned on a regular basis. Making a siege/city assault model is easy. Recovering from what it would do to the plot could be bad.

I'm guessing town battles are going to be more like what you see in Dionisia. You'll be walking through Osgiliath, for instance, and a prompt will allow you to fight against some of its Orc garrison. I'm only guessing, of course, but that seems most likely. I could be totally off the mark.

Making a siege is easy. Its just a mission template like any other. Maybe 2-3 strung together with some props hanging around. Push some agents around if you want it fancy. There are two reasons why there wont be sieges in the next version.
A) It doesnt interest me atm, I want to play with other stuff.
B) Im not doing the war revamp yet. It seems like a waste given that Armagan appears to be building a strategic siege system. Id like to see what he does and see whats usable. Also, each version of mount and blade increases the mod tool flexibility. I see no reason to rush and build a system that will be obsolete or antiquated in 6 months.
But I dont remember saying there would never be sieges. Just that it would need to be integrated into a new war system, which doesnt exist atm.

I just think it would be really neat to be able to fight on the wall of Minas Tirith or of the fortress of Helms deep or even Rivendell you know with a great mod like this, making the game more in depth with the beautiful locations of middle Earth. I would imagine it would attract more LOTR fans as well :)

are you dumb or what? This mod is far from dead. If you can't tell from AW answering all those fucking dumb questions, then you should use your head more.
This mod is being constantly worked on by the whole team.
And the sieges wouldn't be a problem to create, as AW said. The problem is more strategic map scale-ish. What do you do with conquered towns and cities etc..
AW also said it would be a waste if Armagan implement sieges and a brand new war system in the next MaB version...

I know that the team is working hard on transfering this mod to .808 and they can take as long as they please, but I noticed that in .808 that more units could be on a single map then .751 and more appear when the game says "New Enemies have Arrived" so that would make a good impression on TDL =D

I know it's ironic to even post about because I am doing the same thing I say not to but the reason i do is that I hope people will just ignore pointless or stupid posts instead of getting into a discussion about them and causing even more spam. I literally checked the thread five times, all for complete crap posts.
I am not checking for an update, which I don't expect any time soon - just, well, anything. A suggestion, a comment, screenshot, whatever.

Anyway, its up. I was too busy to say anything about it earlier. Im going to put up a mirror asap.
Its not the war revamp or anything but theres some interesting stuff in there from many different hands and contributors. Last fall it was more of a contributor update but I added some stuff this spring so Ill take some credit too. :wink: Credits are on top of the first page and the readme (more generic there). Ill update them more tommorrow.
Ill put out a bugfix or two before going back on modding hiatus.

This....version....is....incredible!!! Combined with the power of my new computer, I have no problems like I did with the previous version. Had a minor sound problem, but that was about M&B in general, not TLD. BTW the new sounds are great, though I must inquire if there is a way to include a seperate file for when two wooden weapons collide. Id like to hear a different sound for when two wooden weapons collide other than the clang of metal, but that is just me being picky. All in all, great job TLD team!!

Hopefully because my hands are starting to get itchy to do something with the sounds in general that is. (There is so much more you could get out of M&B, but for now it's all very limited.)

At least some of the Gondor voices you made are in. I changed the pitch to make them sound a bit deeper though (I did that to some of David Carlson voices too).

I have to find which one is it, but one of the "Elbereth Gilthoniel!" elvish sounds is very high, almost like sped up :) sounds like a squirrel squeaking. (unless elves use fighting squirrels of course ;))

Just wanted to say thanks for the new version to those that had a hand in it, its really alot more than I expected and its all very good quality stuff. The new armors and shields really caught my eye. Beautiful work.

I'd suggest anyone with a low-end PC watch out for one of the reward items for the elves. The shield got my fps to about 10. (it looks awesome though)

Oath Keeper is from completing the Oath of vengance quest, Reverent from paying my respects at burial mounds and I got Elf Friend from a mission from Galadriel.
I also got berserker even with armour.

Hmmm... I always play with Sound Variation disabled, so I wasn't aware of that. Are you sure native voices are not affected by that?

You can trade it for influence points, talk with Galadriel or other elven town lords.

YOU KNOW, there's no evidence whatsoever of Last Days being updated to .808, if you don't look closely or open this subforum of LTD in the MBX. It says last update was for .751 on June 2006. Since I don't think that would be so much of a hassle to change, I didn't look if someone already had mentioned this before.
Or I'm just being stupid and ignorant somehow that I have not figured out yet.

not really just yours ;) Battle for Sicily has an AMAZING war system with all those heroes, traits and shit. I like TLD for heading towards that direction with this update..

I didnt know anyone else was doing traits. Its an old pen and paper thing Ive wanted since the start.
As for the best, I dont care. I just want a good tolkien mod, which has certain rules to it. Having the best mod is simply a function of time invested and/or team size and/or better mod tools. How these one-man-bands do it I have no idea. And all the mods around today will likely be cumbersome and pale in comparison to the mods out next year that have access to better mod tools.
Edit: a good mod also requires talented people, dont want to slight my team. :lol:
Edit2: And I dont want to suggest this is the best one as I wouldnt know as I dont play other mods. Probably for technical achievement its hard to beat a Yoshi mod. For an original story maybe storymod. There are probably several mods competing for the best war system now. TLD is generally well made and strong on theme. But imo the best mod probably hasnt been made yet and it likely wont be made by any of the first generation m&b modders.

I think TLD has a good amount of content with an awsome setting, the war system needs some work but you already know that, I think that after you get ready to start adding some serious features and updating one's already ingame then TLD will be pretty awsome if not perfecto :D

I don't want TEH SPOILERY DOOM set upon my barbaric ass, but can I ask you simply how many different traits there are? I've found two so far, excluding influence, and that would be the Barbarian and Brigand Champion traits.
around 20, 1 doesnt work if you get it, 2 arent hooked up yet so you cant get them. Make sure you have the 2.3.1 patch on if you havent already. You cant get close to 20 though as some are opposites, for specific factions, etc.

And this next release comes with the "Optional RCM" version. After months of discussion, anticipation, technical hangups, general whining, and me pulling out my hair for a week, the "realistic combat model" finally comes to TLD. (Good thing too ... I don't know how much longer I can go without sleep.)
Instructions on how to activate/select it will be with the patch.
This will be likely one of the most eagerly anticipated moves in M&B modding.... and the tests so far all say that it doesn't disappoint.
(Well, it may not live up to ALL the hype ... somebody in one post said TLD with the RCM scale would be "perfect" - it's not that good. There are still bugs, and there will likely be bugs for some time. With this, there are my bugs and AW's bugs.)
Anyway, it's here ... as soon as AW releases the (much needed) 2.3.2 patch.

Since I have way too many games messed up by my "modding", I dare not to shrink the textures, even if I can't play the game without shrinked textures. Question is: When is the small-texturepack coming out? I'm dependant on you... (Whatever the thing was named, I remember not)
PS. The only time I've got 2.3.1 working, is when I ran my PC with "Safe" mode and killed some important processes through taskmgr.exe... Still, with all to a minimum, the game crashed after I alone encountered a dunlending party of 7 scouts.
PSS. I WILL get myself a way better PC, really soon... Really soon. Just don't kill me before that, thanks...
Ill need to get this patch out. Then likely another after this. By then things should be pretty solid and Ill photoshop up a smaller texture pack and see if that works for some people. Ill make an "optimization thread" and stick the d/l in there when its ready.

Well it will be a few more days, at least, before a patch. The sims 2 has randomly decided to destroy my c drive. Apparently it started having graphics corruption and when rebooted gave "failure to load os". Doesnt even detect in CMOS. Ill play around with it tommorrow but it looks bad so far. I backed up a few days ago so only some stuff needs to be redone once I get the comp working again. My instincts say the HD is totally fried.
Havent had a hard drive failure in years, amazing. Id say this drive is 6 months old.

Arrgh hd failures are the worst. you get no warning. glad to hear you backed up everything recently. if it doesn't detect in bios you might want to check the cables. I had a scare earlier this year when my vid card didnt' detect and it turned out there was a problem with the power supply cable that fed power to it

Yeah, check the cables, and check the power supply. Intermittent power can cause and/or simulate all kinds of other bugs.
Statistically, most computer hardware problems are caused by heat. Does "the Sims" spin the drive pretty much continually? Like, long enough to overheat it? If not, it's much more likely that the power supply and/or cables are what's bad.
I haven't heard of a total hard drive crash in years either. Not total. A few bad sectors, maybe, but not like that.

Yeah, I built it, I know the drill.
Today after disconnecting the backup HD, the main drive is suddenly detected by bios. I think its either the backup hd or the cable. The important thing is I immediately zip drived data and photos so whatever happens, I dont care. :lol:
Im going to run all my diagnostic programs, defrag, and then play with the backup hd.

Just an update. Ive fixed all the easy stuff and just have a few left. These last few require a bit of experimentation and actual thinking, which is why I left them for last. Shouldnt be too much longer.

Does a low faction strength like spent and wavering inhibit Mordor's abilty to spawn legions? I destroyed the legion of Minas Morgul when Mordor was still weakened and some evil men were still active. Now Mordor has been spent and wavering with all Allies crushed for over a week and no other legion has come forth. Every few days a new lesser host spawns and caravans, patrols and scouts do so daily.
It does for other factions, not sure about mordor. Id say it doesnt but Im not sure.
Nevermind, the next legion has finally appeared.

Recently bought a new one, so graphics aint a problem, just that every time ive chosen the amount of people i want then when in game its stuck at 40.
Also like that youve put more of the skills in use in the game, like the "slay the sorcerer" mission. And I totally liked the idea of getting missions to hunt down enemy leaders like "bolg the lesser"....hmm..*ponders*..wonder if he liked the elven arrow that i introduced to his forehead..

Really confused here. I went to the link(on the first page of this thread) saying that the mod is version 2.3 but when I get to the page, it's version 2.2.3... so, where do you actually get the 2.3?
Its not labelled correctly on that site but when you d/l it it's 2.3. Ill fix it when I put the next one up.

I was usually posting on the Taleworlds board but decided I had better put in the effort and create a MBX profile, and when I did TLDs sprung to mind as the first place to look for, hence why I'm here.
P.S. 150 a side battles rock, even if the lag is quite bad. :shock:

Hey ... AW ... if you've got those new helmets in, just make something up for the RCM items file - copy the protection stats off of one of the other orc helmets or something. Anyway, don't forget to update both items files... and don't accidentally use the same armor values in both. If it doesn't come out quite right, well, that's what future bugfixes are for - but try to get it close enough to be playable.

Anyways just a question, what do the nazgul actually do on the battlefield? I heard a screech or something while I was playing and almost fell out of my chair lol... is there an actual nazgul on the field when that happens? I couldnt tell because Glorfindel scared him away for some reason...

He does not appear on the field it's just a script that appears some times and may scare some of your troops away. :)

Since i'm posting, i'll write a suggestion i thought of... maybe i should post in the suggestions thread but its so cluttered :(
At the end of each round our prowess is noted and we get one or two influence points. My suggestion is to increase this influence gain on battles in which we fight alongside one of the town leaders (if they are not in our own party).
Also, an added influence bonus when we participate in a battle where an enemy town leader dies. (because it becomes a famous successful battle that everyone will talk about for years)
On the same reasoning, an influence penalty when we fight in a battle where an allied town leader dies.

it's funny how nobody knows what the nazgul does, because they all have Glorfindel :) when I've first heard the nazgul, I didn't have him as I find him too much of help. Well, my troops were all falling on the ground and shit..scary ;)

I couldn't actually see what my troops were doing, but I didn't have Glorfy either. It doesn't much matter to me though since I usually just have my troops stand back while I devour the souls of my enemies. It is a pretty neat idea though, however it works.

General update: I havent had as much time as I would like to work on it lately but I am tonight. I finally gave in to the dark side and deleted the orders system though so Im rebuilding that from scratch (the internal part at least). Ill probably fix a few of the newer bugs this weekend and hopefully put it out soonish.

Just tried playing TLD again.
I've found something out.
Unless you want to get frustrated a lot, or cheat, TLD is thoroughly unplayable in a low spec PC. I lag even in just the arena, with my specs at a minimum. Also, everyone knows that the arena is where you get your money. (That actually annoys me as well.)

Just start the war early, on the first day. The arena is stupid and annoying to me, and I never play it. It's also ridiculous that it takes no time and you are always magically 100% healed between battles.

For the 99th time, yes, the RCM is optional - both item files will be released, and you can plug in whichever one you prefer (or build your own, if you want).

Well, no, I meant that you could build your own, like I built the RCM scale and, after many popular requests, AW is putting it into TLD. If you think you can do better, we would all love to see it.
Just placing some items from one or the other would be truly odd ... along the lines of modding a machine gun into TLD.

Please, your post is on a really low level. Use PUNKTATION, correct capitalisation and spelling. This post was damn hard to read and Nazgul riders were discussed a lot. You would get your answers in a few minutes by just typing it into the search bottom.

Sorry, Im doing absolutely nothing with it lately. Ive been totally snowed under by real life. Its good enough in my opinion but I literally have not found the time to clean up the testing elements and post it. Ill try to do it asap. It's not a lack of interest, I was really hit by an avalanche of to-do's this week.

Erm... I'm kinda new here, so maybe I don't know a few things, but still one thing makes me wonder...
This link you gave on the first page, that should lead to version 2.3 download, leads me to 2.2.3. Is THIS the version that I should patch to get the 2.3.1, or is the link corrupted?
And since I haven't played the 2.3.1 but still like to post something constructive, here's my notes on 2.2.3
- Absolutely the BEST mod for M&B
- It's a great idea that you can finally play a Sindar, but what about Noldor from Rivendell and Morquendi from Mirkwood?
- And what about elven FEMALES? When I tried to make a female Lothlorien Archer I got a something that was definitely a man (i.e. no breasts, a beard change option, all male-elven face textures, etc.)
- If I come up with any other bugs, I'll report. Unless all this is out-dated and already fixed in the new version. In that case - where do I get it? :)

--allied parties can provide some random war news
--pardon evil men routine for player and gon/roh forces
--adoption routine if your faction falls (good only)
--can now issue multiple army orders (not just one per follow/hold, etc)
--ordered heroes will try to wait near to the location you send them.
--optional RCM from Ron Losey (a different weapon/armor balance scheme).
--improved the "change tactics" weapon switching but fewer troops use it at the moment.
--RCM: to use it back up the item_kinds1.txt and rename the item_kinds1_RCM.txt to item_kinds1.txt
--to switch back to vanilla weapon stats just replace the original item_kinds1.txt file. New game required when switching.
Mostly bug fixes, I didnt get them all and I didnt have time to do much polishing or error checking at the moment. I really havent worked on it since July but it should be a better version than the last one. Sorry about the delay, ive been pretty swamped with non mod stuff. You should make an orc character just for the fun of trying out Stefano's new orc faces. Its more entertaining than the mod itself. :D He did great work. Ill probably make an optional d/l later that will let you try out the other (unused) orc colorations.
Oh, and thanks to Apoc for sending a corrected names list but I dont think I used much of it yet. Next time. Maybe you can make your mini-mod for this version?

Same here. In any case, I'm really happy to see the 2.4 version. I was a little worried with the confusion that could arise with 2.3.x versions.

I'm left to wait for the possibility of bigger trolls and dwarfs also...at least dwarfs should be possible in next M&B version according to Armagan.

I think it depends on your setting (The old guy at the start).
By the way, what happens when your faction falls? The game ends, or what? I'm very curious how it works :)

I suppose you can still win the game after your faction falls, but you get no more missions or ranks from it. Ancientwanker wrote somewhere there will be an adoption system in the next patch (I think), so if your faction falls you can be adopted by another faction and continue ranking up.

It would be nice if there were a remnant camp, say all the surviving leaders of the faction gather in one area. It spawns in a random area, so you're gonna have to look for it >:D
That should be able to allow players a small base where they can still purchase their former factions troops and what-not. If seiges can be implemented, such camp might not be needed, whereas the faction would have a last stand at their capital city which needs to be destoryed for the faction to be wiped out for good. (of course, the other cities would be abandoned)

The title of this thread has your answer (for .808). Youll need to get the .808 version of mount and blade. You can have both it and the current m&b installed in different directories.

Yeah, porting had not even started. I previously thought that final m&b was about a year away but 6-12 months does seem possible. Armagan has referenced M&B 2 again (iirc) and added a scripter so it seems like they are in the final push and on some internal timetable. We have housecleaning and planning to do anyway so full steam ahead for native is best imo.
There will be a final .808 patch (full d/l patch) that includes some new content from contributors and a dds reorg that will make it easier to play the mod. This is all prep work for an LOD effort so it may as well go out as a .808 patch. If nobody plays it, thats fine with me, the work had to be done anyway.

Yeps..... Now I have installed Moun&Blade 0.808, and TLB 2.4 to "Modules" folder. But when I start the game, i see it's same old Mount & Blade, no TLB :(

Um... what specifically was the error message? Exactly?
If it said something about the mouse, have you checked your mouse drivers? Are you using some kind of nonstandard mouse?
I mean, some of us will try to help, but we're going to need a heck of a lot clearer information about the problem.

Current working version of TLD mod is for 808 version of M&B. Mod does not work for later versions. Will work for 1.003 in distant future

Yep, you'll have to install M&B .808 to play the current version, or you can wait for the port to 1.x, which will take a while. We're waiting for the official module system to do that.

Log on to what? Sorry I don't understand.
In any case, make sure you install .808 to a different directory, don't install it over 1.003.

Done! Run it and enjoy!

Probably a bad installation. Try uninstalling and reinstalling again. Make sure you know how to handle multiple M&B installations, if that is the case.

I know this has been brought up many times, but I am suffering from the Assertion Failed problem. The issue is that I had reinstalled both Mount and Blade .808 and TLD, I also uninstalled the latest version to be on the safe side, however a few hours into the game the problem has come up again. I reinstalled both the game and the mod a second time, but the problem is still occurring. Does anyone know why the problem would reoccur?

i know im probably way too late to get any sort of reply but anyway
i have a problem when start a new game i get to the map part i can walk for a bit then when weekly influence 4/4 comesup my charaacter disspears and i cant doanything except press escapetoget to the game menu
solution would be very much appreciated for i am very eager to play this :D :D

OK, I tried the search function and looking through threads. But I can't find help on this.
You see, I was trying to recruit evil companions, as a Uruk-Hai. Now, I've found one guy in Isengard, and one in Mordor. I know that when I get to a high enough rank (I think it was) I'll be rewarded with another companion from Isengard.
Now, the question is: Are there more companions for the evil side, and how do I get them?
I know there's a sellsword and the bandit village I can hire for 6K, BTW.

Tried it out, you don't seem to get any for completing quests. For the new TLD, please make it so you do get some for quest completion in one of the versions :P (buying the elite troops is VERY expensive... and they aren't even the top tier ones).

Rank and influence stuff is a bit redesigned for the new version.
No more top troops there.

Here's a question: How does rank-advancement work? Does it work by the number of missions you've completed only (as in, will completing five, "deliver the message" missions be as good as completing five "kill Rohan Patrols" missions?)? Meaning that, it doesn't matter how many bandit groups I kill in the kill bandit group missions, it's just about how many I complete?
