I have the same situation.  Today I downloaded .808 in order to play TLD, but both have the same error within a minute or two, here's the error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
X  Assertion Failed!
Program: ...
File:  ...
Line: ...

Expression:  ray_vec.length() < 10000000000.0f

for information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the visual c++ documentation on asserts.

(press retry to debug the application-JIT must be enabled)

Can you play .808 native?

Wrong forum, then :) This thread is just to adress issues regarding TLD, I'm not part of the M&B/Taleworlds staff :)

I'll give you some advice nevertheless: Make sure you know how to run multiple M&B installations, in case you have other versions installed (besides .808). I actually posted instructions on how to set them up somewhere in this thread, so you might want to look for them ;)

This is the problem I was having, making it compatible with XP fixed the issue.  Game works fine now.

I have version .808 installed with TLD 2.4. Every time I try to run the game it gives this error. I haven't touched any of the files so I don't know what's causing the problem.

Does anyone else experienced the same problem or is it just me??

I did not only had the same problem but i found a simple solution! je gebruikt vista. go to properties of your mountandblade.exe of 0.808 and set it to be competable with  windows xp.

Ik haat vista met je mee...

Well, native works fine now, but whenever I start a dialogue in TLD, or when the old man shows up, I don't see a portrait of their character and the game freezes, I don't even get an error message it just locks up and eventually goes back to windows.

That's a tipical video memory issue. You'll need to disable or lower some graphical options and see how it goes from there. Make sure to disable "sound variation" while you're at it.

M&B .808 didn't have the graphical optimizations introduced later on, so it's actually heavier than 1.011.
