45 elite Rohan troops, along with allies, facing a Legion and you lost nearly all your guys? 0.o Don't let the cool armor throw you off next time ><!
Btw, Gothmog has a shield
Yup, captured him next battle. Only defeat like that I've had and it mostly happened because my guys were clumped together and we didn't charge soon enough, so it became a gangbang in a corner. Good fun. Same troop setup has currently lost 4 men out of 55 while bringing Dol Goldur from strong to spent and wavering. So I savor the losses.

I thought those Black Numenorian guys were cool at first, but a single throwing spear took em out
I do hope RCM works a bit better in their favor, it's a waste of good armor ><!

Oh, GODS, this one's priceless!
We were fighting the last Lesser Host of Dol Guldur, with DG spent and wavering. A single Snaga was left, with about fifteen Elven archers after him, he was running from my forces up this cliff(he was actually attacking Glorfindel on the other side of the cliff), and he had just reached the top when my archers reformed.
The track "Hector's Death" from Troy was playing on iTunes, with the mourning, sad vocals playing, as more than half a dozen arrows flew past him, one hit him in the leg, another in the lower back, and finally one in the neck up through the face, sending a gush of blood from his head, before he ceremoniously fell over, still with the sullen soundtrack howling in the background, my men cheering.
I felt sorry for the bastard. It was really heroic, you should've seen it! Looked like the last soldier of a fallen fortress ran from his pursuers, arrows whizzing past him, and then three arrows, rhythmically with at least a second between them, hit him, still struggling on, and then died, with his enemies cheering behind him. I laughed my ass off
EDIT:
Shit! I was wrong! It didn't kill them! Not the least! I went to Caras Galadhon after the battle to find me some Reinforced Rivendell Mail, and guess what I found when I got back? A 120 man strong Lesser Host and two 80-90 man strong Patrols fighting an 85 man strong Great Host of Lothlórien.
I shall quote my childhood hero, Jayne:
"Time for some thrillin' heroics!"

Well, yeah, my recounting was with RCM enabled. Anything that requires more than two hits with my Chieftain blade is strong, period.
Another amusing story from a test Rohan char I ran real quick, without cheats, war starting on day two. I broke the Dunlenders almost instantly in a series of quick battles, got all excited and pushed toward Isengards demise. Moria fell, the elves captured two heroes, all was gravy. Then Gondor gets crushed within a few days. I dash back toward Edoras and within 20 seconds of arriving I see not one or two, but four Mordor hosts. Three legions and a great host, all heading for me. And my best units were three veteran riders.
About three hours of annoying and horrible slaughter ensued with me whittling down 600 mordor troops with the aid of caravans and scouts. It wouldn't have been so bad except the 80 goth-something wolfriders with their 8 or 10 olg hai buddies in one legion, the 25ish numenorian horsemasters with backup in another. Never had to retreat and engage something over and over so many times ever before. Mablung had four wounds by the end of it, Ulfas three. Glorious!

I've got another one, but no screenshots to acompany it this time.
Since I usually tackle parties about 2-3 times my size without taking too many casualties, I wanted to aim for an army that's 4 times my army (which is generally 70-90 troops)
So...I stumble upon a Patrol, 2 Scouts, bandits, a Lesser Host of Mordor, and a Legion of Gargoroth or whatever attacking one of those Urban Levy guys... So, I was like "sweet, lets kick some ass"
The battle started out well, the usual cavalry troops brushing up against my troops like water on rock. Natually, I took this advantage to get to one side of the trapped horsemen and began slashing at their sides, every stroke killing a horse or maiming a rider. Right before I decide to call a charge, I noticed that I was taking a lot of casualties, discovering that the Olog Hai had somehow snuck into my ranks and was decimating my troops with the help of their fell uruks and such. Seeing this, I literally jumped into the fray, over-head chopped as I dropped, instantly taking out one of the fell creations of Morgoth. No matter what I did, the orks were still carving through my ranks, so I had no choice but to retreat, drawing most of their forces towards me.
Reinforcements arrived, but the reprive was only temporary, since the orks cut through them as well since most of my higher tier troops were already engaged or dead. I kept running backwards, blocking with my sheild and taking the occasional opportunity to slash at the new orc faces. Eventually, my shield broke, and I was probably halfway across the map. There I continued, parrying blows and and slashing at chests with my Bastard sword until I realised that I hit a wall. There I made my stand until enemy reinforcements arrived.....apparently, I was near the spawn point. (not too close though, just close enough for them to reach me in short time)
So there I fell, leaving a trail of bodies in the field, and wondering why I never heard orcish victory cries before. Luckily, I was helping an ally, so I was able to leave the battle while the orcs stayed to fight an army of 0.

Hehehe, nice
Anyway, I took a night's sleep before attacking the remaining 250 Dol Guldur soldiers. I'll get a screenshot or two.
