my formations arent working

Hi, just started playing this mod.  Really think i could like it, allthough when i go into battle and i command my men to hold this postion or any of the added formation commands all they do is walk back and forth about 10 paces individually.  So they will come somewhat together but then each one seperately walks foward and backward.  looks like they are all dancing.  This is really huting my experience for the mod since these new formation features really appeal to me.  anyone?

As said in the manual, the formations ONLY work if you order soldiers to charge.

thanks for the reply, As stated in my post it's not just the formations.  when i tell them to hold there position also.  All my troops just constantly move around.

ic, i've only ever played the newest version.  So is this just a part of the .808 when you oder your guys to hold this position not one of them will sit still?

Yep. Took a long time to the M&B devs to figure out the archers AI. Before the dancing archers they'd shoot their own companions in the back

Hint: if you place your archers on a hill slope, where they can take clear shots at the targets, they'll stop dancing and start shooting

ugh, well i'm on board.  there absolutely needs to be a newer version of this mod.  If just a few things could be fixed in this mod version this would be the coolest mod by far.  10 times better then the real game

update the camera view

expand the map

fix the dancing troops.

i keep wanting to play this mod cause its very very cool.  but I just can't get over the limitations of .808

Tactically, archers should be on the high ground anyway

The common tactic would be to tell your melee troops to charge, archers to follow and then hold position on a hill. It's funny when enemies try to walk up steep slopes to you.
