Theres a Mod called Kengeki Its got alot of custom techniques which include Kenjutsu techniques as well as other weapon techniques and hand to hand techniques. You could ask them For permission to use these animations. You could even make it so you start off with the normal animations but could learn weapon arts and Martial arts so you would use these custom techniques but even just to have these techniques in the mod full stop even if you always start with them as opposed to the harder Martial arts idea would be awesome

It would be pretty much on-par with this time period, so long as it is fairly simple -- there was no systematized martial arts training in Japan in this time period whatsoever -- at least, nothing on par with martial arts training schools that sprang up in the late 1500's.  There are menkyo from the 1400s, for example one awarded to Hozoin In'ei I believe by Kamiizumi Nobutsuna attesting that he had "trained all season" and basically learned all there was to teach.  "All season" was stated like it was a big deal.  Pretty funny.

You basically went to a local warrior and asked for training, or you went to one of the big martial arts shrines (Katori, Kashima, &c).  Sometimes, a warrior would be famous enough that you would travel to meet him.  Other times, you would travel all around to various teachers or simply to challenge people to duels or whatever, a practice called musha shugyou.  Either way, martial arts techniques were pretty basic.  Speed and attack power are already improved with leveling and such, so I don't see the need.
