If this is the crooked road you guys are taking then i don't think i will bother with custom music. I don't see the point in wasting my time when you can simply upload a copyrighted soundtrack.

To be honest I kind of agree with Pagan on this one.
Allowing people to add their own sound tracks is one thing, but uploading the copyright material into the SWC sub forum is pretty risky.

I would be much more inclined to use Pagan's custom sound tracks simply because he is giving us a licence to use them which eliminates any possible problems with Copy Right infringement in terms of music.

ya we really, have to be careful these days, if youtube is really being a dick in the copyright department, there no telling if someone is keeping an eye on this forum

Happy Stormtrooper had run this idea by me, and initially I hadn't seen a problem, but after reading these posts I agree with the others.   The next release will have blank mp3's that people can replace with their own music, but providing a download could be trouble.   Also, pagan was nice enough to offer to work on custom music, which we would be able to include with the download, and this will make this mod stand out all the better.   I love the tracks he has done for TLD so I'm quite excited about this and I'm sure other people are as well. So for anything to do with the music for this mod I think we should defer to him.

However, since the next release will have blank files I'm sure several people may start making music packs.  So, for various reasons, I think we should discourage direct downloads of music, but if people want to provide list of recommended song tracks and a music.txt (if it was modified) then I don't see that as a problem.  That would give people a good starting point, but each person would need to acquire these tracks on their own, etc.  Anyway, I'm open to discussing this further, but considering this mod is already walking a fine line I doubt we want to step over the edge much further...

I'm content with the current music, or lack there of. I'm even o.k. with the normal M&B music.


I was very impressed with Pagan's music though, it really sets the atmosphere for the Star wars universe and the calm before the chaos, so-to-speak. I'll be sure to download it with that next release. Which I am still eager for.  ^_^

not to sound stupid but does pagens music come with the mod or do you have to download it seperatly and if so how do you place it in the mount and blade files

pagan's music will eventually ship with the mod so it will be included by default.  But he's still working on it, so for the 0.8.2 release that I posted today, there are only blank MP3 files that you could replace with your own music if you wish.
