heard its coming out in April, which is rather late if you read what Martin says in the back of the fourth book, but aparently its not finished yet, who'd have thought it takes 3 years to write a book, it had better be bloody good.

He can take as long as he wants as long as he doesn't keel over before he finishes them all.  I can't imagine it not being good, over-hyped yes, bad, no.

<shrug> Robert Jordan was only 58. Still, it is not very likely, either way.

About him taking forever to get the book out; he has, as far as I can tell, been working other books as well, and hasn't found as much time for aSoIaF (just my impression of what I've heard, though). Even so, i have little doubt that it will be a very good read (once it finally arrives).

Let's cut him some slack, shall we? ASOIAF is not his life, and the way some people on the internet have been bitching about it, it seems that they think he owes them the bloody book. He got pissed enough to deal with it on his blog.

On a more cheerful note, I did recall reading that he's aiming to finish the book by June or so and that it'll be published by September. I'm going off my memory here, so I may be wrong.

Yeah, NightNinja said it best.  He owes no one anything.  What he has given already is a gift of literature, so we can't really bitch about it.   I try and wait patiently.   I know the longer it takes the better it will be polished.

Oh, he just baits and baits, and all the while peddles his other shit like anyone cares.  I don't even care if the book comes out anymore.  There's better stuff out there.

What part of 'ASOIAF is not his life' did you not understand?

I enjoy some of his other works, and personally I like seeing the other ASOIAF merchandise.

(I realize the post is several weeks old, but I couldn't resist.)
