The Yogi's Mini-mods
« on: January 17, 2007, 08:03:11 AM »
(Original post by The Yogi at Taleworlds, Ive just moved it here): I've been doing some small scale mini modding, and was thinking to share the results with other TLD players.

The Yogi's mini-mods for TLD 2.2.1

Features;

My Conversations mini-mod v1.11;
*Sell prisoners in any allied major faction city. (done!)
*Exchange high-ranking prisoners for XP and cash at any time (but for less reward than for those quests). (done for the mayor factions)
*Transfer troops and prisoners freely between your and allied parties (can be used to reinforce or strip  allied hosts, patrols and scouts).(done for major factions)
*Increased reward for each destroyed mountain goblin party to 200 denars (this is mostly for those who do not want to play with the arena).(done!)
*1.01 Fixed a bug that prevented Isengard and Mordor from accessing the troop exchange screen.
*1.1 The out-of-quest exchange of officer prisoners is implemented for the major factions.
*1.11 Fixed a bug that caused a interminable loop when dropping prisoners in Rohan. Also made rewards for prisoners identical to quests and added the possibility to turn in prisoners from both Gondor and Rohan to Mordor and Isengard.

My Menu mini-mod v1.01;
*Store troops and prisoners in your capital's garrisson. (done!)
*1.01 Fixed a bug that prevented the Isengard garrisson from working.

My Troops mini-mod v1.02;
*Revamped Gondorian troops according to my ideas presented in the suggestions thread. (done!)
*v1.01 changed some troop names from Infantryman/cavalryman to infantry/cavalry
*v1.02 fixed rangers having blue hoods and redid Lamedon warriors along what they'll (probably) be like in the next version of TLD.

Each mini-mod is a single txt-file of the same name. They can be installed all together or independently of each other.

the conversation mod is relatively simple to install...replace the appropriate files in your TLD module folder.

the menu and troops mod is a matter of copying the text that comes up in your browser and pasting it into the appropriate word file(menu.txt for the menu, and troops.txt for troops).  the original text must be deleted first.

backing up the files first might be a good idea...

I tried to download the conversations mini-mod, but my browser opens it as a text file instead of downloading it. How do I overcome this?

Thanks in advance,
Cesaran

It's a good addition to an already great game. Will it be included in the next version of The Last Days?

Indeed. However, I've just begun to play with the official module system, so I might port some parts of the minimods to the new version. I don't know how or if AW will change the gear of the Gondor troops, but if they stay the same, at least I'll port my troops mod to the new versions.

Yogi, your Conversation and Menu mini-mods were very handy in the game, especially the first one (is not like cheating). I hoped that they would been included in 0.808 version of TDL, but ...
Could you forge the Conversation Mod for 0.808, or tell me how to do this by my self (I didnt find  any appropriate tool). Thank you in advance !!!

He can not without the source, the minimods for .751 were made with the unofficial editor which isn't compatible with .808. And for that matter it wasn't compatible for .751 either.

I finally made it  :)
If sombody is interested, just post !!!
In my version of conversation mod only Human and Elf faction are supported, but if somebody is interested in oposite factions, I could fix that.
You can exchange any type of enemy leader in any ally faction (not like in Yogi's mod).

I'd be very interested in these mods. I loved them for the .751 version of The Last Days, but the .808 changes are so good I can't see going back. Could you please post the updated versions?

Here it is http://rapidshare.com/files/42964705/conversation.txt.html
But have in mind that is not Yogi's mod, it work for Human and Elf factions only, as I already said.
BackUp the original file and then just replace it.

Enjoy!!!

Please inform me, if you find any bug.

Here's a bug for ya;

CTD when encountering brigand parties (the error message refers to the dialogue file and the encounter runs without a hitch with the standard 2.3.1 conversation file).

And also;

Brigand officers not recognised. Otherwise, good work! How did you do it, without an unofficial editor?

If I'm not missteken, they weren't included in your mod, but in case you need it, take this http://rapidshare.com/files/43623595/conversation.txt.html

I realy like this feature in the game, I think that is fair to take EXP and money in exchage for the enemy officers, thank you for the idea.
Look at "header_operations.py" file in Module system for version 0.808 (you can find it here http://forums.taleworlds.net/index.php/topic,19301.0.html), your conversation.txt file for 0.751 was also very helpful.

Thank you, Prosorpino!

One thing that was in my mod but not in yours was the ability to sell off ordinary prisoners too (for 20 gold apiece). It was the option "just rank and file rabble, Sir". Did you decide to not have that included, or did you not know how to do it?

BTW, after realising that the Gondorian top echelon troops can switch between sword and lance/spear, I see no reason to redo my troops mod any more. Basically, the Gondor troop tree looks mostly the way I did it, so how could I not be happy? I still would change Gondor youth a wee bit, but that's not reason enough to make a mod.

Yes, its true!   :)

It was the easiest part, but it had no use to me. I do not take my prisoner management skill up more than 1st Level, so I collect officers only. Anyway, I think that 20 coins its too low to make some money, so I just ignored it.

In case somebody is interested in this option, take it in this version (Brigand Officers Rewords Included)    http://rapidshare.com/files/43671840/conversation.txt.html

Yogi and Prosorpino,

Just because I am too new to know better  >:D ,  just wondering if anything out there does THIS for 2.4x:
The Yogi's mini-mods for TLD 2.2.1

Features;

My Conversations mini-mod v1.11;

My Menu mini-mod v1.01;
*Store troops and prisoners in your capital's garrisson. (done!)
*1.01 Fixed a bug that prevented the Isengard garrisson from working.

My Troops mini-mod v1.02;

[/color]

If so, I thank you kindly for showing us where to dl...
and thanks!

Short answer is no, there isn't. Some elements of these minimods have made it into 2.4 though; you can now reinforce allied parties (in a much better and less exploitable way than in my minimod), you can store troops at the Eastfold Inn and Gondor troops have largely been revamped along the lines suggested in the troops minimod.

Regarding the constant exchange of prisoners, prosorpino brought that into v2.3 but not yet v. 2.4. If he does, it might be a good idea to wait until v2.4.1 so he doesn't need to do it all over again.

I think the post "Downloading older version" may have TLD for .751, but I'm not sure...

down from the door where it began,
Now far a head the road has gone,
And I must follow if I can.
