True. But PLEASE! Do use SEARCH before you suggest something!!

With 130 or so pages, it's quite possible someone already suggested it.

I've got another one  >:D

Dark sky!

This is probably not doable, but considering the stuff you guys managed to pull in previous versions...

How about simulating the advancing storm of Sauron?
A storm sent from mordor into neighbouring enemy lands so as his orcs wont suffer from sunlight.
Maybe it could be activated if a legion atempted to siege a nearby enemy settlement. But then Im not yet familiar with sieges in the upcoming version.

On the subject of glowing swords/knives: I believe the 3 or four in the Hobbit/Lotr are the only ones in Tolkien's lengendarium said to glow. Sting, Glamdring, Orcrist and Anduril/Narsil. Gurthang, Turin's sword, was said to glow about the edges, but that was a sword made from a fallen meteor or something like that.

And just because Sting didn't have anything engraved on it (which is why Elrond knew Orcrist and Glamdring were Gondolin blades) doesn't mean they didn't belong to someone important. Many weapons in Tolkien's writings didn't have runes to show who they belonged to (at least never described as such). Narsil/Anduril, Gurthang, Dagmor, Ringil, Aranruth are never mentioned to have distinguishing markings, and among them only Anduril and Gurthang glowed. And all of these weapons belonged to kings or lordly men.

Still, who would use weapon like Sting? It was small sword for a hobbit, so it was only a dagger to elf.

Also, you should read Silmarillion again. I don't have english version of it now, but in finnish one reads about : ... Ringil, which glowed like ice.

"    " But Fingolfin gleamed beneath it as a star; for his mail was overlaid with silver, and his blue shield was set with crystals; and he drew his sword Ringil, that glittered like ice." "

ice obviously glitters, it doesn't glow. Listen, what use could an elf have of a dagger? Are you serious?

Yeah, in english it says "glitter" not "glow".

I recall some guy named Beren using a knife to pry a Silmaril from Morgoth's crown, for what it's worth ;) and an elvish prince carried the same knife, until Beren took it from him.

...Can't see any reason why a knife ISN'T useful. If you lost your sword, then it's much better than going unarmed. Can be used for general tasks, like cutting animals for meat (assuming oyu don't have knives specifically for that), or even things like whittling wood as a hobby in camp. Not to mention, that some armour has cracks which a knife is handy to stab through.

Check out the ranger's apprentice mod!
They made some serious gameplay improvements.
I'd like something like that on TLD!

They seemed to have messed with values only, as a modder it would be better if you took a look for yourself. The horses have been improved, they resemble the horses in warband. The fighting system seems to have improved, but the thing that cought my atention was the bad ass archery, I started as a ranger and I was able to take out something like thirty looters while standing on the same spot. Im yet to explore it furder, especialy now that my laptop has gone red/black screen on me. But I though you guys should do s similioar job.

How is making a player uber a general improvement to gameplay?

There's more struff in there, many of your enemies are also uber. I chalanged a nobleman to a friendly match and won 0 rounds out of 6. When I massacred those looters with my longbow I imedieately thought of elven archerry in TLD.
That mod just gave me a degree of chalange and thrill like I haven't experienced yet, so I'd like you guys to check it out and consider making something along those lines in the mod.
Anyway a character can still start low.

The player will have to work his butt off before he gets to that level.
